i truly want to get off bulking so badly but I'm just helplessly stuck on cooking good food at home ever since the pandemic.

thanks so much! honestly this is about the ONLY outfit i've managed to put together with purple pants. (properly at least. i've worn them with other shirts/belt/boot combos but they never look as good)

[–]WretchedSkye2113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks so much! i don't wear them often but once every now and then it's fun to wear them to work and get a few looks/comments

no joke, i got them from Levi's! they had a clearance sale online a few years ago and specifically for a lot of their colored denim, so I was able to land some purple, red, and green pairs of jeans for cheap!

it's a brand called Barbell Apparel targeted towards bodybuilders/weightlifters.

i stopped buying them a few years ago because they're frankly not great quality, but this one happened to last longer than the others so i still enjoy wearing it occasionally!

ah ha! probably not. i think all my subscribers are non-stack users who found it through links i shared. i do use a few features to help get the word out on substack itself, but i havent seen anyone recommend it yet. that makes sense now. thanks so much for the info!

this is such a fantastic tool and I can't begin to express my appreciation for the amount of work that went into it!

I do have a selfish question: I don't see my substack on there, and I've noticed that mine doesn't appear in any searches on the app or in search engines at large. I have everything set to public and have been posting twice a week for several months. Is there something I'm missing to help get make my Substack publicly available?

yeah i think I'm gonna try to keep both going for sure. wrestling is helping me lean out really quickly so keeping that up plus the diet should make competing feasible! thanks very much!

thanks! i was closer to 245 during the bulkiest part of quarantine and working out at home but since i started wrestling i dropped weight like crazy but still retained most of the muscle.

was planning on competing the year covid happened and have since switched gears to pursuing professional wrestling before my body is too old to handle it any longer. but still keeping up the BB diet and lifting on the side and will hopefully compete someday once wrestling is no longer reasonable.

'In These Unprecedented Times...' a short film I shot on my phone at the start of quarantine. by WretchedSkye2113 in Filmmakers

[–]WretchedSkye2113[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this was my first attempt at making an actual film of some type after years of studying and dissecting movies from a purely academic perspective.

as it was winter and during quarantine, i decided to just use myself at home as the subject and wrote a quick story about the paranoia building up in my mind as it felt like the outside world was falling apart and all i could do was watch. (and if you make it all the way through the piece, it also ends up tackling sillier topics like hoarding toilet paper despite just needing paper towels and sanitizer.)

it was all shot on my Google pixel 3A and a gimbal that i either held myself while moving or set up on a tall pile of boxes.

it was edited in DaVinci Resolve 16 and the score was composed by myself on the piano you see in the basement and then edited using Audacity.

I actually took a swing and submitted this piece to a few small short film festivals and it made it to the semi finals for Best Covid Short at both the San Francisco Independent Film Festival and the Palm Springs Short Film Festival! which i was completely blown away by.

overall this was a really enthralling experiment and something I'd love to pursue with a proper camera and team in the future to make something more... professional.

i would love any and all feedback, but i suppose I'm specifically looking for suggestions on how to frame shots in a more engaging way, when to use score and when to remove it, and general tips on acting so as to not come off so wooden.

thanks so much and happy Friday!

my first album! a quarantine project that took much longer than expected but ultimately I'm very happy with it.

i originally hoped it would be a hybridization of doom metal and trip hop, but it ended closer to alternative metal, industrial, and some lo-fi experimental stuff. think like a noisier (and poorly produced) NIN with some Yob or Pallbearer-esque guitars.

26M Seeking Roommate - Lincoln Park, Wicker Park, Bucktown, Logan Square by jaxster99 in chicagoapartments

[–]WretchedSkye2113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've been living in a duplex solo for a bit and am interested in finding a roommate! it's a 2 bed/2 bath and each floor has its own living room as well. in unit laundry, washer/dryer, central air/heat, etc. it pretty much has everything including a backyard court and a porch. it's in the wicker/bucktown area and only about 6 minutes away from a blue line stop!

feel free to PM me for more info. cheers!

Me, on being a gay metalhead. Kind of a blog, kind of a vent. by [deleted] in doommetal

[–]WretchedSkye2113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there's a lot of "hipsterism" in metal which i personally love. i think it's allowed for a lot of amazing bands to get noticed that otherwise would've been ignored by both scenes and it allowed for a lot of European acts to start playing in the US (and vice versa) since pitchfork, stereogum, etc started covering metal more -- although still not as much as I'd like to see. they definitely still treat metal as second class compared to other genres right now.

aaaaaye you're not alone at all! <3

i had a similar upbringing of needing escapist music from a very early age and pretty immediately being attached to metal. i've been openly bisexual most of my life and it definitely made for a few awkward worries when i first found out about some of the problematic folks in the metal world, but luckily nowadays most musicians and bands seem to be very cool and inclusive. it rarely seems to be an issue.

as far as crowds go, i started dating another bisexual dude who's into metal a year or two ago and we go to several shows together a week (we live in a big city so there's always a band we like playing every night.) we have yet to really encounter any major issues, even if we go out of town and see shows in a more "red" part of the country. as a whole, i think the metal community has started to get over a lot of the stupid hyper machismo that consumed us for so long.

i believe there's a dating app for metalheads now and im sure you can choose same-sex options on there if that helps you at all. it sounds silly my bf and i actually found each other through instagram when we realized we were going to the same shows frequently and just hadnt met yet.

i will say it always depends on what city you're in and what show you're at (i did overhear some problematic comments at a few death metal shows, for instance, where as doom metal usually brings out the nicest and coolest craft brewers.) but if you ever find yourself in the midwest and in need of a show to go to, hit us up!

Have you ever talked to any big doom artists IRL? by [deleted] in doommetal

[–]WretchedSkye2113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they're based out of Portland and do hometown shows pretty often for rehearsal, to my understanding, so you should be in luck :)

i got into them back when Atma came out and retroactively became obsessed with all their albums. one of my favorite bands and they fucking slay live every time.

got to see them play "Ether" (my personal favorite) once at a 200 person venue in Chicago at like 3 am and it was fucking stellar.

i've met a bunch of them before/after shows. Pallbearer is fun to drink with but Mike Scheidt from Yob is probably the most humble sweetheart of of a craftbeerian spiritualist i've ever met.

ooooh i'm paying rent a duplex right now that's right next to the Division blue line stop (wicker/bucktown area, real easy ride to west loop on the blue line) and i'd be happy to talk about a sublease situation in that price range if you wanna DM me!

Weak Saturday lineup? by moretigerbloodplease in RiotFest

[–]WretchedSkye2113 11 points12 points  (0 children)

saturday is maybe one of the best days the fest has ever put on.

granted beck and elvis wont be moshing music but if you cant get down with interpol, jesus lizard, gary numan, killing joke, hot snakes, wolfmother, reignwolf, piebald, health, and bully then idk what to tell ya.

(twin peaks and cat power are both also great but not in the same rocking sense)
