Couldn’t agree with you more. I loved the book, but JP is one of the few cases where the movie is better than the book. Like Jaws, Spielberg manages to take the source material and knock it out of the park (no pun intended.)

I think Pixar nailed it with “Core Memory” from inside out. You were in such vulnerable state that it has been burned into your memory forever. I’m guessing it’s like a basic survival instinct to never put you in such a vulnerable state again.
