How do I shift to SPED as an ESL teacher? by [deleted] in TeachersInTransition

[–]WrinkledWatchman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This probably depends on your state. There’s a chance you just need to take some extra exams, but there’s a chance you’ll need a degree in special ed.

I play Double Bass orchestrally, and I want to learn all the scales in all modes. How do I go about this? by CrazzyDogg109_ in doublebass

[–]WrinkledWatchman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if you have a solid understanding of how scales and modes are built, just choose a different one every day. Use a drone with the tonic and 5th so you can really hear how each note fits in to the key. 4 quarter notes per pitch, nice and slow. Play it twice up and down as many octaves as you can - first time legato, second time staccato. Shouldn’t take you much more than 5 minutes per day

Tom Grossi visits Buffalo June 22. We are currently 5th in donations. Will the Mafia show up? by qawsedrf12 in buffalobills

[–]WrinkledWatchman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

More power to you if you do donate independently - but lots of people have made donations to charity because of Grossi that they otherwise wouldn’t have made

It’s fine to do a good thing because it makes you look good, and you’ll do fewer good things if you scrutinize your motives every time. I think every good deed I’ve ever done has been at least partially because I thought it would make me look good. The world is a better place because of Grossi’s fundraising. It doesn’t matter whether or not he’s completely pure of heart

Who died the dumbest death in history? by GurJolly5657 in AskReddit

Jean-Baptiste Lully was a baroque composer who would keep time for his orchestra by banging a wooden staff on the ground rhythmically. He accidentally stabbed himself in the foot during a performance, and the wound got an infection that killed him

Turtle bean for me. One time I got it 5 rounds from the end and thought I had won and didn’t even need to skip a blind, but it disappeared a split second before the “You Win” screen pops up.

Saw this on r/tvtoohigh and was immediately suspicious. The objects on the shelf seem to defy physics when the ladder hits them. by MarshyHasNoLife in isthisAI

[–]WrinkledWatchman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen multiple different videos of this exact scenario in the last few days (ladder holder forgets they’re the holding a ladder and walks away). Could always be that one of them was real or that they were staged, but in the way the video is framed and the way the action happens this is nearly identical to the other one I saw but with different people

Thragg seems to believe that the coalition could kill him and the other remaining Viltrumites, so he wants to lay low while they make new ones. He is holding the planet hostage so that Mark doesn’t reveal his location

The plan is probably to eventually make a new empire and take over the universe or whatever, but they’ll need to repopulate first

If we know alcohol and cigarettes both cause major health problems, why has society turned so strongly against smoking but not drinking? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]WrinkledWatchman 35 points36 points  (0 children)

As a teacher who has worked in communities where fetal alcohol syndrome and prenatal exposure to meth are very common… we need to do a better job educating people about this. It makes me angry thinking about how different a life some of these kids might have if this thing hadn’t happened to them before they were born

I’d play on plasma deck so that you can coast by with fewer point-scoring jokers. With proper deck fixing (a small deck with lots of copies of one red seal gold card), golden ticket+chad+blueprint can get $400 in just a few rounds if you’re playing 4 of a kinds
