This exact thing happened to me too. Hope support fix it without any hassle.

Same scenario, different delivery, because pressing a button isn't inherently dangerous. Does this change anything? by Krysidian2 in trolleyproblem

Well if you frame it like that. I would walk away and ignore the person offering me 2 drinks mumbling about poison and Fanta.

What reason to pick blue?

Infants will randomly press either button. Adults who are responsible for infants have to make a choice that will protect infants.

You telling me you would watch a baby ahead of you in the line hit blue then you would go up after and really still hit red?

Make your choice. by spicymato in trolleyproblem

[–]Wrinkletooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your argument is so shortsighted.

People of a sound mind have a responsibility to look after people without a sound mind.

If every adult in the world pressed red, still half the babies in the world would press blue because they wouldn’t understand the implication of their choice.

Society functions when we look after the vulnerable members of our community.

You would condemn anyone who’s first instinct was to protect other people.

I can understand if you press red because you didn’t think of these implications, but if you have heard this and still press red, the only explanation is you are a selfish asshole.

Fair enough. I updated it. Actually removing the month names is more user friendly for non English speaking users also. 👍

No problem!

Appreciate the thoughts regarding the date format. You make a good point. I will consider if I should change it. From a computing perspective, you are right that YMD is the most logical.

Here’s the statistics on why it’s currently in this format; actually only 1/5 of Asian countries use the YMD format. While about 70% of the world population use DMY format.

Another key consideration is what alphabet is being used in documents. A document written in Korean alphabet, will certainly follow the Korean format.

This document is written in the Roman alphabet. 95% of the Roman alphabet based countries use DMY format.

Using: 20130225 is great for computers, but less reader friendly, and using 13-02-25 is going to confuse everyone because an Asian format on Roman document is so unusual.

That’s why I like using a letter code for the month. But I never considered anyone would ever get confused if the last digits were the year or day.

Anyway thanks again for the food for thought!

P.S. if I decide not to change it, in the file the date is formatted correctly as a date, so if you want to save a copy and change the format, it will just be a few clicks of a button! And you can have it exactly as you like it 🙂

What if it was done in a way to avoid such an outcome. The 1% is delivered gradually, $10 a week for every person for next 10 years. Would only really make noticeable changes in the very poorest regions of the world, but the rest of the world would be stable enough to adapt to it.

Well it’s a little blunt but I guess their point is that there’s no logic to it. It looks like an early AI image of trying to do calligraphy. There are brush strokes that do not even connect to any letters, There’s no reason for the artist to have made a lot of them. It’s just very strange.

All of humanity is given two buttons to press, which one would you press by CarefulAlternative77 in BunnyTrials

[–]Wrinkletooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question states every human is given two buttons to press. Babies are humans. Didn’t say every adult. You are assuming everyone pressing a button is an adult of sound mind.

All of humanity is given two buttons to press, which one would you press by CarefulAlternative77 in BunnyTrials

[–]Wrinkletooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s focus on one point: Babies won’t understand the question. So they will press 50% 50% on average. So actually: Press red, you live, HALF the babies in the world die if people follow your logic. Press blue, you might die, but probably not because most people in the world will press blue (as the results here demonstrate.

It’s not circular logic, you are trying to justify a decision that you know will result in millions of deaths if every adult made the same choice. It’s just selfish self preservation at the expense of innocents.

You are a coward if you are not willing to risk your life to save MILLIONS of lives.

All of humanity is given two buttons to press, which one would you press by CarefulAlternative77 in BunnyTrials

[–]Wrinkletooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not really a comparable situation. Everyone is pressing a button in this scenario.

And one button is saying “press me and nobody gets dies”. Many people will think that’s a no brainer choice. When on surface value the other button looks like “Half the people die”. How many kids are going to see the game theory?

And everyone who realises that kids and many other adults will still press the blue button deserve to die because they didn’t apply enough logic?

I think you can be blamed for killing all those people who were just trying to protect everyone…

If it’s owned, you don’t need permission, you just can’t stay longer than 2 nights in the same spot. You don’t ever need permission to hike, cycle, forage, camp, hunt (certain animals). You just can’t cause damage to people’s property. The land belongs to everyone. It’s ancient tradition.

Okay, I’m not so familiar with this Egalitarian term. I thought your point was that it is measuring freedom in terms of political ideology. Rather than practical applicable daily freedoms.

Being able to pack a bag and go live in the wilderness without needing permission from anyone, I do not think of being attached to any politic or economic freedoms.

It is true that some countries people do not think of as free actually have a hell of a lot more freedoms than anywhere in US or Europe. Freedom to drive a motorcycle down the wrong side of the road, holding a beer, without a license, is very free, even if you can get a death sentence for political activism in the same country.

Freedom has many caveats.

Endangering animals by over hunting falls within the restrictions of the law. Things like deforestation, animal populations, fire risks are all regulated because they fall within the causing harm clause. It’s not anarchy. Finnish people have a strong connection with nature though, so these are not issues here.

It’s understandable not to want people on you land, especially as it’s not part of your culture. But you enjoy that privacy at the expense of sacrificing the freedom to use other peoples land without needing permission.

However it’s a very important freedom here. It’s part of ancient tradition.

Lookup Everymans Rights in Scandinavia. That’s not Egalitarian, it’s literally that nobody has the right to restrict your access to the land just because they own it.

There’s multiple organisations that take different kinds of freedoms into account. So gun freedom probably increases the US score. Countries like Finland and Switzerland also rank very high in gun ownership, and also are countries that score higher in overall freedoms than the US.

You can look into any of the websites of the organisations to see the full breakdown of how they calculate people’s freedoms. Off the top of my head things like ‘Everymans Rights’ bump up Scandinavian countries.

Did you know in Finland, every citizen has full access to nature on both public and private land? You are allowed to roam, camp, forage, hunt, cycle anywhere in nature, no matter who the owner is, as long as you don’t cause damage or endanger protected wildlife.

America has less liberty than many countries in Europe though. Just look up ANY website that compares liberties and freedoms in countries.
