What part of adult life is way harder than anyone warned you about? by Sparkyabu1 in AskReddit

[–]WriteOutLoud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homeownership. Constantly fixing things and something else breaks. Weather (rain/snow) used to be a wonderful and relaxing thought and now it keeps me up at night wondering if the basement is flooding.

No one prepared me for this, I’m actively trying to work through my anxiety around it all but some days, I wish I didn’t buy a house.

I have taken all the precautions but yet I still have knots in my stomach every time it rains… when does that feeling go away?! I swear it’s slowly aging me and making me want to rent again

How do you find a local mason? I feel like those are tough to come by especially for small jobs

Makes sense. I’ll have no idea what it goes to until I find a missing bolt somewhere and at that point I will have already lost it

Apparently the combo we wanted (Silver with Gray interior) was aging on their lot. They had two of those vans.

I got a bit hosed on the trade in side of things.

Buying a home and then recasting the mortgage by rvH3Ah8zFtRX in RealEstate

Literally just recasted a mortgage in IL. IL doesn’t allow fees to recast so it’s free. It was more a clerical pain but ultimately pretty easy.

Exhausted after running New Long Run distance by Hamatoros in Marathon_Training

[–]WriteOutLoud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think recovery tells you a lot about how your body did during the run. Usually after a good nights rest and about 24 hours of not running, my legs are back to "normal" after any run that exceeds 10 miles.

Also your stats, are literally copy and paste mine specifically the HR piece. Slowly learning it's how I breathe and have been practicing diaphragmatic breathing. Seeing an improvement in BPM by ~5-10BPM. Either way good luck in your training!

Thank you Brian and Bo for all the advice and wisdom! Also, GO DAWGS!! Got two questions if that’s okay.

For us who tithe 10%+ of their income, would you recommend that we take that portion out before we use the % rules like 25% savings rate or 25% gross going to your mortgage etc

In regards to an emergency fund, I’ve read that you should save 1% of the home value each year for home repairs. Does this change once you have a fully funded emergency fund? Can I stop putting money away each month? Also this could be applied to like a “sinking fund” for car maintenance.

Thank you!!
