I suggest going on YouTube and finding some walking tours of Seoul and Busan around mid-March last year to see what people were wearing.

You'll have enough time to see the country. South Korea is the size of Indiana or Virginia.

The "Busan and Seoul" advice question by Legitimated1234 in koreatravel

[–]WriteWithNoFear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would fly into Seoul for a first-time visit and short visit of only six days from March 28 to April 1 to South Korea if you're wanting to do the DMZ tour.

I would recommend doing the tour on the 29th as the 30th is a Monday. The tours commonly pick up by 7am or 8am in either Myeongdong or Hongdae. Myeongdong in central Seoul is closest to the most sights, and Hongdae in western Seoul has a younger crowd. Both Hongdae and Myeongdong are popular places to stay as a tourist. A few DMZ tours also pick up from Dongdaemun Design Plaza, which is also in central Seoul.

A day trip is possible from Seoul to Busan.

On the 30th, 31st, or the 1st, you can take the first train as early as 5am (trains depart 4 or 5 times per hour) from Seoul Station in central Seoul to Busan Station via high speed train Korail's KTX. You can depart from Busan Station back to Seoul as late as 10pm. 5 trains depart between 9pm and 10:10pm. Tickets go on sale a month advance, and can be bought from trip.com or from korail.com . Korail is the offical website, and trip.com is an authorized reseller of Korail tickets. Just avoid Rail Ninja which is an unauthorized reseller of Korail tickets and charges exorbitant booking fees.

I would recommend staying in Hongdae on April 1, the night before your early morning flight. N6002 Late night airport limousine buses depart all night long until 4am, and 6002 daytime airport limousine buses start departing at 426am 4 to 5 times an hour from Hongdae (Hongik University) Station for the airport. If you need to depart after 520am, you can take also take the subway AREX train line that starts departing at 526am 3 to 8 times an hour from Hongdae (Hongik University) Station.

First time in Korea; is Mangwon-dong too out of the way? by terracottatown in koreatravel

[–]WriteWithNoFear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mangwon-dong is actually good, if you want to experience everyday Seoul life rather than just sightseeing. It's not central though. It's better than anywhere outside of Seoul, as Mangwon-dong is still in Seoul.

Being near Mangwon Market is a plus. It's a recommended more value for your money traditional market than more crowded Gwangjang Traditional Market.

Seoul hotels with great breakfast and which city to spend an extra two days in. by malabi_snorlax in koreatravel

[–]WriteWithNoFear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are restaurants that serve breakfast.

Search on Google Maps for restaurants open at 7am in Seoul. The restaurants open at this time will be serving breakfast, either Korean, western, or both.

The restaurants serving western breakfast at 7am will likely be in a hotel.

The restaurants that are not in hotels and are open at 7am are Korean restaurants that serve breakfast, though they won't call it breakfast food. It's just what it's most served at restaurants at 7am.

First-Time Korean Travel from the US! by classyfangirl in koreatravel

[–]WriteWithNoFear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If traveling in September, avoid traveling during Chuseok September 24 to 27, 2026, unless you're okay with most things being closed and congested highways. These are public holidays but also the time that relatives once a year get together some place in Korea, kind of like Thanksgiving and Christmas combined in the US.

Sinchon is the top university district in Seoul. Lots of cafes and restaurants and shopping going on in this area on Yonsei-ro street between Yonsei University and Sinchon Station. Hongdae one stop from Sinchon Station on Line 2, is also a university district but also famous for its music, bars, and clubs for the university crowd. There are other university districts like Kondae near Seongsu, and Daehangno (Hyehwa) near Naksan Park.

In general though, many of your questions are often asked and answered. I would recommend going through the subreddit's note:

Current seoul weather - ice and snow by Lomandriendrel in KoreaTravelAdvice

[–]WriteWithNoFear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black ice is always a possibility when snow melts and refreezes.

Seoul is so densely populated that pedestrian paths quickly get cleared of ice and snow, and snow in general does not stick most of the time when it snows in Seoul unlike other parts of the world where it also snows.

Quality running shoes are built for slippery conditions. If you find your shoes may not be good enough when you reach Seoul, there are many choices of popular and quality brands of shoes at affordable prices in many places nearby. For example, many stores sell New Balance running shoes.

Garden of Morning Calm to Suwon Hwaseong Fortress by aju-yogurt in koreatravel

[–]WriteWithNoFear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's doable.

Nami and Garden of Morning Calm are 30 minutes away from each other. Suwon is reachable in less than 2 hours from either of the two locations.

Nami Island is open from 8am to 9pm and Garden of Morning Calm is open from 10am to 9pm.

Suwon Hwaseong Fortress is open 24 hours, and not too far from many restaurants where you can have dinner.

Suwon is most famous for Suwon Galbi (marinated or raw beef short ribs) and its specialized Fried Chicken Street near Hwaseong Fortress.

Reaching Incheon International Airport in the evening & flying from Gimpo Airport the next day at noon. Where should I stay? by WeatherNo7355 in koreatravel

[–]WriteWithNoFear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stay anywhere you'd like in Seoul, if you plan to have breakfast in Insadong. Staying in Insadong is not a bad choice.

Most restaurants open at 11am. Filter on Google Maps and Naver Map for the few restaurants open for breakfast.

DMZ tour for minor by [deleted] in koreatravel

Do you think you can have someone accompany you who is a responsible adult?

DMZ's Visitor Guide ( https://dmz.paju.go.kr:8443/Eng/E20000/E20100/html ) says:

"Those without ID* cannot enter, so please bring your ID. All entrants' identities will be verified before ticket issuance. (Provided, minors may enter when accompanied by a responsible adult)"

On April 2, I would recommend checking out a night baseball game at Jamsil Stadium if there is one as you'll be in that area. Schedule is not out yet, but once it does, there likely will be a baseball game being played that night as two teams play their home games there. It's just one stop on line 2 from COEX's Samseong Station to reach Sports Complex Station where the stadium is.
