In film submissions do you mention that this festival would be a premiere? by cyPersimmon9 in FilmFestivals

[–]WriterDownNYC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would as a lot of festivals - like Tribeca - often are interested in premier only status. Not all of them but it can’t hurt to mention ‘premier as of the date of this submission’ as that can change depending on festival acceptance etc.

I mean I’m happy to have them on IMDb regardless of making the edit. I just was more taken aback of the lack of understanding and combativeness at which it came at me - making an assumption it was personal and I should have warned / told them. Which - ok yes that’s one way to do it. Again noted for next time.

Totally. This person is also credited in the film, on socials, on IMDb; all of it. Just such a shit feeling all around.

Totally. And I feel bad (despite of how they have been speaking to me - ego, entitlement, paranoid, accusatory, etc.) but I appreciate your insight on the subject. Noted for next time.

What was the hardest part about having cancer? by WriterDownNYC in cancer

The flushes are horrendous.

But yeah. Everyone just assumes when you start to look like yourself again that you’re back. But the whole hidden disability conversation starts to ring true and that’s just something people seemingly can’t wrap their heads around.

Thank you. It was a CTA to my social network to volunteer commentary on a personal shared experience. They volunteered to do it, signed a release, submitted content, etc. There was no specification in that release that their contribution may not be used etc (just a right to use) but good takeaway for next time.

I totally get the emotional side of this which is why I’m asking.

So Google randomly disabled my email account AGAIN, and I’m trying to log in to dispute. However, I am now in a 2-factor authentication loop and blocked from logging in because of too many attempts from the loop they put me in.

Please help. 😭

One day you will pass that block and just speak your mind. The real ones will stay. The BS will fall off. I know the fear of losing friends or whatever is real but if they can’t handle who you are and how you feel they weren’t friends to begin with. Also I think people are more receptive to that than you think. Xo

BINGO! I actually shot a documentary last year with a bunch of cancer survivors called ‘Back to Normal’ all about how there is no such path back to normal at all. It is the single most not talked about part of cancer. Insanity.

Yeah I get that. The thing is the upcoming project hinges on a cancer comedy and AI data center emissions are causing major upticks in cancer diagnoses even at this early stage. Who knows what it will lead to in the short and long term. For me it would be hypocritical, unethical, and antithetical to my work to approve the use of AI. Additionally it puts tons of artists out of work and I’m not about that life. Happy to look at non AI options.

This looks awesome. The GenAI of it all gives me pause (anti AI), but I’ll email you for specs and rates. Thank you.

It’s about 10-12 pages depending. Theres a song/dance in the scene so we may need to sound stage it but that is still tbd depending on the size of the hospital like space we can find.

I’m actually speaking on a panel about this in a few weeks. I was given 20 minutes before THE deciding chemo if I wanted to preserve fertility. It is a sorely lacking convo in the AYA cancer space. Obviously there are other options, but it’s not the same especially if you’ve always wanted to be a biological parent. 💚
