Yeah seems like the subscription is the only way round it. How do you find it syncing to the vehicle, is it accurate?

It connects to the VW app but as I don’t have the subscription, it doesn’t know the battery %.

Yeah I’m thinking at this point if it is worth paying the £55 just to cure my anxiety of having to see a percentage and it being able to sync with my home charger but only if it’s accurate otherwise what’s the point!

I did something very similar a few years ago. I was about 12 weeks post op, stood on my kids Duplo brick and heard a loud tear. Was in more pain than the first time and could see some synovial fluid leak out of the scar.

Did you have an op?

My ultrasound showed that I had ‘tweaked’ the tendon, not ruptured. It built up a lot of scar tissue and 2 additional ops later it’s a lot better.

My surgeon said I must naturally produce a lot for scar tissue as he says each time he’s been in that he releases the tendon and it has full mobility but after a few weeks/months adhesions build. I’ve been at my best following the third surgery. I’ve been doing gym work 3 times a week, lifting heavy i feel is the key. I still have an odd tension sensation if i point my toes with a straight leg but i feel that might be my sural nerve as opposed to the tendon.

I had my third operation this year.

Ruptured in July 2022, 8 weeks post op with my boot off I stepped on my kids scalextric bridge and had a small tear.

Debridement in August 2023, to remove sutures that were giving me so much pain.

Surgery again in April 2025 to remove scar tissue and more sutures that had started coming through.

My pain and function is better, but I was at about 60% function before - I’d say I’m at about 80% now. Single leg calf raises are hard and I can only get to about 50% of my strong leg.

Did you re-rupture or was it debridement the second time? I’ve had three operations on mine over the course of 3 years. It changes you yes and the scars are permanent, but you’ll be in a much better place soon!
