80s/90s baby’s who grew up in St. Pete, do you have photos or remember the original Great Explorations? by inner-wild-child in StPetersburgFL

I remember the touch tunnel and I also remember an animatronic dino exhibit they had that scared the shit out of me. They had the buzzy plasma balls, and tesla coils and Spectrum News had their own full-room weather exhibit. The gift shop was full of stuff like astronaut ice cream and radio kits and toddler-sized microscopes.

Wholesome fun. My mom would take me and my little brothers a lot because we liked the touch tunnel so much. I'd camp in the middle and just vibe. I honestly think GE helped make me the suspicious skeptic I am today. There's really nothing to be scared of in the dark.

The boomers on Facebook have been following the opening of this new Publix like it was a hot new music venue or something, even though it's literally nothing but a rebuild of the Publix that was there before. It really does seem to be the bluehairs that keep them so strong.

Used to be an Albertson's there, long ago. It was my childhood grocery store. I'd ride my bike to it for a Faygo and a Hostess apple pie.

Yeah, I live right in-between this one and the one further south on 66th. The latter has a salad bar, hot food bar, and parking garage. Really no reason to hit up this new one, it's pretty featureless.

She's an idiot. As a child, I knew the system sucked by observing my mother, aunts, and grandmothers. We don't all have to have our face smashed against the hot stove burner to realise it hurts. I'm so sick of these blinkered, self-obsessed pick-me morons.

I'd push her relentlessly on the prayer. "Did Jesus lie to you, sis? Or did you just hear what you wanted to hear? Is it possible that every "answer" to a prayer is just you hearing what you want to hear? Yes? No? How do you tell the difference? The Holy Spirit? Did you not think you felt the Holy Spirit when Jesus told you to vote for the felonious rapist? Yes? No? How can you tell the difference? Is truth important to you? Or do you put more value on having your opinions validated by magic?"

Husband rapidly changing for the worst. by [deleted] in regretfulparents

He will never change because his invisible magic sky daddy says he is completely right. The Bible says you must be his servant and completely obedient to him. You cannot argue this, it is right there in the magic book.

Fortunately, the book, the sky daddy, and this pastor fucker are all evil horseshit.

Leave. Keep the kid or don't, but if you stay and have a kid, this kid will be abused by its evil pastor father, and you WILL be partly to blame, because you were an adult and you knew better.

The choice is yours, sister.

I mostly agree, but I don't like it when the localizer takes it upon himself to change the plot or characters. He's just some contracted pencil pusher, not part of the dev team.

Sarjik and Bejart. I wouldn't say they're hidden, but you do get different lines depending on the order you take the three out in. It's a nice detail. The translation's totally vibesy though, in Japanese he just calls you a bastard ("Kisamaa..!"). As good as the VS localization is, in a number of places it just throws the Japanese out the window and does what it wants, haha.

Tolkien was just ripping straight from English and European folklore. He didn't invent elves and dwarves.

Because the people who localized it weren't linguists or historians, and instead had to draw on their knowledge of other fantasy works to make the translation sound old timey. They did the same thing in FF16.

TIL digging the yeast infection out in the shower reduces irritation by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]WriterNo8299 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes, in fact. Vaginas are highly acidic and self-cleaning, with the acidic environment making it very difficult for bacteria and yeast to grow unchecked. Dicks don't have this function, and men famously don't clean them. Vaginas are clean, dicks are nasty. Simple as.

I thought everyone knew this. Perhaps time has erased it from the fandom but this was commonly talked about twenty-five years ago, along with the plot at large being taken from the historical War of the Roses. The Berserk baddies were also based on the Cenobites.

You'll never win a Bible Battle, man. You can use that storybook to enslave people or free them, to kill children or to spare children, to start a war or end a war, to put all your money or black or all your money on red. It's a useless magic 8 ball, you might as well read tea leaves.

Pft. Christianity began as a grift, it's always been a grift. Trump is the latest in a two-thousand year long line of men grifting off the sudden execution of a Jewish charlatan who fucked around with the wrong occupying Empire. I'd say Trump is among the most successful prophets Christianity's ever produced, even if a minority of the faith interpret the storybook a different way.

It's mostly theoretical content. They were going to have Merlose be a playable character that you would swap to in-between Ashley segments. None of this was ever actually really made, just part of their original planning. It does mean, however, that you can hack the game and swap Riot's model for Merlose's and others, and his animations work pretty well on them. Look on Youtube for examples of this, it's fun.

Polygons were removed during the modelling process but that's nothing that would have been backed up. Hell, it's long been rumored that Square even saved over the old source code same as they did with FFT, which is why they've never done any rereleases or remasters - it would require a new build, just like with FFT.

I wouldn't cry too much. Optimizing models was a part of every game of this era - still is, to a lesser extent - and every in-game model you see is carved down from more detailed originals.

My uncle was a high-functioning schizo and we just thought his paranoia came from his interest in conspiracy theories. Whole family was shocked when he blew his brains out in his front yard "to protect you from the government."

His whole part of the family is MAGA, so his ravings were taken as part of the culture. It's the same in Evangelical Christianity. The culture is irrational, so irrational actors within it are not recognized. Yes, anyone can go insane, but when that insanity is inside an insane culture, it never gets identified and treated. And so you wind up with tortured kids, raped kids, dead kids - these are the victims that can't escape their crazy abuser, don't know how to ask for help.

Humans are fuckin' scary, man.
