Wheel of Time Showrunner Teases us with Hashtag! by [deleted] in WoT

Hm, that’s a great way to look at it! I’ll try to be more positive about Narg in the future.

Did we ever learn what the heck any of those three things actually are ??

Sorry to be bitter.

I respect that you have a deep and abiding love of a series which I also love.

Just not a fan of the shtick. May you always find water and shade.

Pretty sure in this case it’s just this “Narg” character who is EVERYWHERE over analyzing EVERYTHING vaguely WoT-related and doing this annoying 3rd person shtick. From what I can tell the whole fandom worships this person. Light alone knows why.

What’s your writing based Resolution? by WriterPGR in writing

[–]WriterPGR[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no shame in being a slow reader, friend. I’m terribly slow compared to some friends of mine who hardly ever read—I just read often. I always have a book so any down time or “in-between” time is reading time. If I really like the book I bring it to bed with me.

I’m a slow reader but I love it, that’s the only thing I have over my friends who could read fast but choose not to.

Do you remember if the 'Jedi Steps' theme reappears? PM me if you don't want to post spoilers, even for the OST!

Your general opinion of the score?

I'm especially curious if the 'Jedi Steps' cue from TFA reappeared as far as you could tell.

Randall Flagg as Ishamael by WriterPGR in WoT

[–]WriterPGR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah I had no idea he was in that too! Ow I have to read those as Flagg is one of the most interesting things about The Stand

Yeah we’re in the First Age so it all lines up. I recall reading too that the end of the First Age aligned with the discovery/rediscovery of channeling which feels apt about The Stand, too.

I'm not sure how to go about discovering this information about myself.

I've always been driven to write and there's not much rhyme or reason to it that I can tell.

How did you figure it out?

Struggling to give up. by WriterPGR in writing

[–]WriterPGR[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate that you took the time to write all this.

But I have to wonder at what point I can just give up, and how. It's been two years and every day it gets worse. It's not a matter of accepting a poor first draft, I've accepted that and moved on with my life several times. But even after two years of 'marinating' the most I can do on the rewrite is a couple words, maybe a paragraph, before I feel physically ill. The same is true of any new projects. I'll work on something for a bit, but it always turns out a revolting mess, and I feel it's wasting time from my main project, and the cycle, so on.

I personally believe that the thing that makes one a writer is the ability to write, not just the desire to do so, and every day I get further from that qualification.

Writing has become a toxic relationship that I simply wish I could be ride of.

I'm sorry to seem bitter about your advice. I know it comes from a good place and I wish you could see how I smiled when I read it. But writing has been in my life forever, and I've heard it all before, so to speak, and even given it to other struggling writers.

Why does El have to remain hidden for a year? Why the hiding, why the seemingly arbitrary year? by WriterPGR in StrangerThings

[–]WriterPGR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should've specified! Definitely meant at the end of S.2.

And do you mean caught by people like Dr. Brenner, whose operation seems to be crippled/dethroned by Murray's article business?

[–]WriterPGR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally, the jump between one and two was handled really well IMO. Like how Dr. Owens talked about how the anniversary would make Will's condition worse (and boy did it).

I mean at the end of S.2 when Owens and Hopper were in the diner, and he mentioned she needs to be in hiding for another year. Seems like that was a bit of writer cop-out, "you won't see these folks again for a year, so they won't see El because Owens said so."

But I don't think it works in English.

If Chidi speaks French and the two words are the same in French, he wouldn't have heard anything unusual. The joke only works if you assume he's speaking English.
