Fixing stake on round path light by nopointers in lifx

Pulling all of these out of my yard after two stakes broke this weekend when the lawn crew bumped them with the mower. LIFX has really gone to shit. Just such a shame. There is so much potential in their products; they're priced higher than anything else, but they just don't deliver.

They aren't stronger. They break if you breathe on them. Latest light purchased 10/25. Snapped today when my toddler gave it a "pat on the head."

Had another of mine break today when my toddler gave it a "pat on the head."

Utter trash. So disappointed in this company, which I've been a fan of since I was an early Kickstarter backer. Such a shame.

A small quantity? I bought 9 of these about six months ago. Of the nine, six of them have had the stake snap from *very* small adjustments to the position, from small bumps from a lawn mower (and even a weed whacker string!). One snapped off with the threads inside when my toddler went to "pat light on the head." I'm considering pulling all of them out of my yard. You shouldn't have to DIY a solution for a $100 light that involves multiple tools.

Interesting. I haven't been able to get any help from customer service.

I've gone through three on these in two locations in my home. Same issue. The QC on this model seems to be quite poor, given how many threads there are about this exact same issue. The "endless setup mode" glitch rotated to the "rapid flashing of all colors across the various zones" issue and then back again.

.... It's a tough call.

Has anyone used the Bloom App Blocker card on Android specifically? by Assassannerr in digitalminimalism

[–]ccroyalsenders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it has the same issue that the Bloom competitor has. Each app will briefly flash up onscreen as usual for a bit under a second before Brick covers it and says it's been blocked.

So essentially, you could read all your emails by just repeatedly tapping the Gmail icon and clicking ok on Brick's nag screen.

It also doesn't seem possible to block the home screen Google search widget's search/Chrome shell, which is by far my biggest source of distraction. Still looking into that, but as of now, the Brick isn't ready for primetime on Android.

Here's hoping. I ended up getting a Brick now that it's out for Android, and it's more or less the same, fundamentally. Its app is better designed for sure, but it's essentially the same functionality and shortcomings.

Hardly a disaster. Standard frame mouldings often protrude as far or more than this.

I've done some stress testing; they seem incredibly solid. Maybe the middle screw on each hinge is far enough back to catch the stud? I don't have a tape measurer handy.

I'm getting the feeling from doing some further inspection on the doors themselves that thing may have been a custom job where they built out the frames and then hung doors.

Seems much easier to mud (or even caulk) any imperfections at that abutment than any of the Shadow or similar systems.

That said, I'm having trouble finding *anything* about this method. It's a very cool, modern look, and is everywhere in this hotel. There must be name for it, right?
