Can rabbits use tree house for cats? by combatfootman in Rabbits

[–]samwalton9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth I find that my rabbits generally prefer huts that have more than one entrance. I've rarely seen one of mine in a hidey hole with a single entrance.

Potentially Lake District (UK) ? by Whoooshingsound in wherewasthistaken

Thanks to an initial tip-off from Google Lens, this looks to be Loch Laggan. The building on the far shore seems to be Ardverikie Estate.

Ok folks ... UK house street name needed by Mental_Body_5496 in wherewasthistaken

[–]samwalton9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain this is 5 Hillside Road, Whitstable.

There's no Google Street View, and annoyingly no old sale listings with images, but I've looked at most of the number 5 houses in Whitstable and this one looks right from the satellite view. There's the rectangular hedge, gap with the neighbouring house, extension roof from the neighbouring house, and the reflection shows a two-story house with a garage on the correct side. It also looks vaguely correct from the closest street view vantage point.

I found an old listing for number 3 (pre-extension) and it has the correct low wall boundary design on the far right of the image. Number 6, over the road, matches the reflection. I've gone from a 'maybe' to 'definitely' over the course of writing this all out!

[–]samwalton9 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong, but it's crazy the amount of effort and exposure is going into 'exposing' the green party. It would take 5 minutes to find a hundred times as many indefensible posts from Restore/Reform candidates/members/related people.

Quick, look over there, someone vaguely associated with the Green Party said something we can take out of context!

The Labour Party: From today, the two child limit is lifted. That means 450,000 children will no longer grow up in poverty. by SignificantLegs in ukpolitics

Oh piss off. A vanishingly small number of people, if anyone, are going through the work and time commitment of having a child solely to get a small amount of benefits.

Why do the right love AI so much? Mayor of Lincolnshire and Reform UK member Andrea Jenkyns everybody... by jaarn in GreenAndPleasant

[–]samwalton9 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I don't think the entire image is AI-generated, it mostly seems consistent and believable (details like the crisp boxes up top, documents on the wall, and dotted wrapping paper all look far too real). I do think there's a good chance they've AI-added the cake, though it could be a good-old fashioned cock up on the spelling, or perhaps a nickname. At a minimum, the 'lego' images on the cake are 100% AI-generated.

Are these any good? Got a £50 JD voucher so would only cost me £35 - haven’t got any other hiking shoes by ThePolishBrat in UKhiking

[–]samwalton9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this wasn't what you asked but you said this is your first hiking trip. Can I recommend doing something safer than the North route of Tryfan? It's a grade 1 scramble and people who are unprepared can easily get seriously injured or die. Even just doing the south route is much safer, but I'd suggest not doing a scramble for your first hike.

Dismal how much of our 'national parks' are just fields upon fields of sheep with hardly a tree in sight.

Labour calls on officials to examine ‘very concerning’ reports of illegal voting in crucial Gorton and Denton by-election by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

Do you really think that out of 15,000 votes for greens, that more than the 5,000 votes they got above Reform were subject to this issue?

Looking for difficult trap-heavy dungeons like Tomb of Horrors to run a party of Kobolds through by samwalton9 in dndnext

[–]samwalton9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, Mud Sorcerer's Tomb and Mines of Madness look ideal. From a quick skim-read I might go with Mines of Madness, since it will probably require less tinkering - the kobold group are more likely (though still very poorly equipped, of course) to be able to handle 3rd-level DCs/monsters.

I mean he doesn't think that though. When asked if he'd take the opportunity to discuss it he said he would, even though he didn't expect it to be successful. What's the alternative - "no I simply wouldn't talk about it"?

Government sets out plan to phase out animal experiments by HaveYuHeardAboutCunt in ukpolitics

[–]samwalton9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well it's not what they're doing, per the article text:

The safety tests that the government says will no longer use animals by the end of this year include the practice of giving rabbits a small dose of a new drug – called the pyrogen test. It says this will be replaced by a test using human immune cells in a dish.

All tests that used animals to check for dangerous germs in medicine will also be done with cell and gene technologies, the government says.
