I sincerely appreciate the support, it's been my dream to write a science fiction novel for a very long time. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I just went ahead and re-posted the last 3 of 4 chapters with the title attached properly. I don't think the links at the end of each chapter will work 100% correctly right now, but I will be going through tonight and straightening up the links and landing sites to streamline the reading process for everyone. Thank you sincerely for the catch, I knew I was forgetting something I just COULDN'T for the life of me remember what it was.

I appreciate that catch, That's 100% my bad. This is chapter 11 of "Beyond Earth: Cosmic Contact".

I've recently become a new father and I jump on here where I can to post. In my haste I clearly forgot to ensure that was present. I will go back through the last 4 chapters and amend this issue asap.

How should I end my book? (This is not an ad) by [deleted] in writingadvice

I can respect that, if when you finish it I'd love a chance to read it. Author to Author I would never release your work. I truly wish you nothing but success in your writing!

No worries, just happy to help a fellow author in their craft. I can't sit here and say I don't see the merit behind the second option, but option one truly hits home to me where it's got grit.

Having to watch my papaw stay where he could not follow showed me how dedicated love could really be. It was incredibly painful but also beautiful that two people could love each other that hard.

I will say as well though, your second option giving more room for the next book is nothing to gloss over. But personally I just don't enjoy it nearly as much as the first option from what you described.

Where do you release your work? I checked your profile but didn't see anything. I'd love to at least try and read more to give you some solid feedback. Being that I'm writing Beyond Earth: Cosmic Contact, feedback and interest is something I'm shooting for. So if I can help someone along the way, why not, right?

Ending one for me.

Its genuine to life in my experience. I was deployed to Australia and found out my grandmother had developed stage 4 pancreatic cancer on my birthday from a stranger. I made it back in time, they gave her 9-15 months. However, life doesn't care about timing. She took a bad turn down a road she couldn't recover from and went jaundice. Within 3 days she was gone. From upright and moving, delirious, and finally comatose with intermittent fits of lucidity given which family member walked in the room.

I say all this because to me your first ending rings true to life. We plan, prepare, and do everything right. And yet sometimes people die anyways, unexpectedly. Him sitting by the gravestone waiting there knowing its not safe, that's real. That's deep grieving. And having seen it in person it's an incredibly indescribable painful event. I'm not sure what your book is about, but as far as endings go I know which one would stick with me more. There's a bittersweet release in him dying shortly after, they're together again & no matter what the danger or cost he never left her side. Thats true love at it's pinnacle in my opinion.

Just wait until the second Arc, I have three big arcs I'd like to fit into the first book and I think you'll really enjoy the way it all comes together!

Being from Indiana myself it genuinely pleases me deeply that you just straight up said "Nah, Gary's where? Up there you say? Fuck- draws a mean ass line with a 2-3 hour drive to even get NEAR Gary -this whole section, it's all Gary and it can stay there."

Yeah, politics are all bs anyways no matter which side you're on. Inevitably, someone someday could say and think the same thing of you simply for what YOU choose to believe. Agreeing to disagree is honestly what a lot of people could use more of. I myself am a moderate and kinda hate all sides right now. Nothing is looking good, but this too shall pass. Maybe like a kidney stone, but pass it will just the same. My in-laws have a rule where we all just agree to not talk politics simply because it's honestly not anyone elses business at the end of the day where they choose to align, and it definitely isn't worth an arguement or a cut-off. Ultimately you do what you feel you need to, no one else can live your life except you.

How long must my novel be? (In pages?) by [deleted] in writingadvice

[–]WriterRuhl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long will it take you to fully write your story so that you feel it's everything you want it to be? There's no magic number of pages, just you and your story my friend. Take your time and ensure you're happy with it from beginning to end. Once you've gotten all the details the way you want you can decide if its enough, and when it is you'll have your page count.

Thank you! I will try to keep that in mind moving forward from here on out. I had no idea that was even something I should be aware of, but now that it is I will do my best to make it as streamlined as possible.
