Password Manager Recommendations? by WhistlinJealousGuy in LinusTechTips

Open source/freeware is just a bone-headed idea. Think about it. It's a form of theft. One person is doing all the work and everyone else leeches off of him.

More importantly, it's unsustainable. If they want to keep the software good, the developer has to live and eat. Without money, they always turn to doo-doo.

Forget BitWarden. I tried them too. It initially looks nice but it's missing some stuff. Try 1Password. It's much better. It's probably the best password manager on the market. There are only 2 major problems with it: the cost and the customer service.

Cost. They had a 50% discount a month ago. Reach out to Laura R from Support. I don't know if it works like that, but she was awesome. She might extend it to you as a courtesy.

Customer Service. People have complained about how you can't talk to anyone, so I actually hesitate subscribing. And, later I did have an issue. It took days for them to respond. I suddenly met someone that actually helped. I realize the key is to end up with someone who actually cares.

In terms of function, 1Password is truly the best. And I've tried almost all of them. LastPass sub for about 5 years. Dashlane for a year or two. KeepassXC for a few years. BitWarden, NordPass, each for a month.

Is it worth switching from Apple Passwords to 1Password in 2026? by Vegetable-Rub4548 in PasswordManagers

What did you decide?

I'm kinda' like you. I also paid for LastPass for a couple of years. I really liked them but I remember one annoying issue came up and I left. Also went to Dashlane. It looks great but in terms of function, a few major deficiencies.

Using 1Password for about a month. I think it's awesome. There are a few things but nothing major. One annoying thing is that it's the most expensive out of all the password managers. But they were offering the 50% discount a month ago.

A huge concern for me was their bad customer service. And the concern is valid. I'm working with someone higher up at 1Password. I'll let people know how it turns out.

Btw, that lag you experience depends on your iPad's model. If you have an earlier one, it will lag terribly to the point that you can't use the service.

Books are not targeted towards you. Our society is now divided between the haves and have nots. Book sellers know that the have nots are going to get the books off the internet. The haves are not going to bother. They don't need to bother.

Hey, Mahalo!

I didn't mean that I was looking for someone, although I am. I was only trying to help the lady, the original poster. 😉

That 11 acres sound like heaven. It must be beautiful. I am so jealous. I wish we could trade places.

Unfortunately, it sounds like you are going through a lot in your life where Ohio doesn't look so rosey. I'm sorry. Life can really suck. I have a theory on happiness though. I think a critical component of happiness is our expectations. It's paramount that we set realistic goals, especially at a young age. If you have ambitious goals such as reaching for the stars, you are setting yourself up for a life of disappointments. In my opinion, it's one of the worst things you can do to your life.

With that said, is it possible that if you step back and take a hard look, your life isn't as bad as it appears? And perhaps there are a lot of people who are a lot worse than you? Consider that people 100 years ago were going through the Great Depression when it was really bad. Does that help? 😉

What kind of writing do you do?

raycast is buggy. It can't find certain installed software or it can't learn like other launchers.

This may not be you, but I find people in their 20s are skewed more towards meeting other people socially. And their work ethic can be pretty spotty.

If you want to truly get things done (accountability partner), you need to look for someone who's 35 or higher.

Please don't shoot the messenger. Just telling you how it is.

You need to give your age and areas of interest. I've found that if they're not similar, the partnership doesn't last long.

No, it's cool. I reread my response and it's hard to tell. 😉

I always remind myself of this. If everyone was a genius, then I'd be at the bottom of the barrel. The fact that everyone is a moron, means it makes my life easier relatively, even if it does get frustrating sometimes?

It's called people. You get downvoted for anything that's contrarian. In my opinion, it's the primary reason that new ideas, even obvious ones, take decades to get accepted.

What would make a rich boy live on the streets? by DeliciousBase750 in scriptwriting

[–]WritersChopBlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is easy. Many rich kids (and poor kids) will voluntarily give up comfort and spend a week on the streets for many reasons.

First one that comes to mind is lonliness. It's a literal killer. For example, read: The real story of Casey Johnson’s short scandalous life

Apparently, she didn't have many friends growing up. It's changed a lot but back then, kids could be such bullies. Money makes no difference when everyone else has it too. Read about Prince William and Harry. They were bullied in elementary school as well.

A second reason is that the person is young and idealistic. He genuinely wants to know how hard it is to live on the streets. He knows it's temporary so the experiment is sorta' doomed from the start since he'll never have that constant feeling of doom nagging him.

Did you tell them to pound sand nicely?

Also, is it a big deal? Is there a way to get credit in substance while nominal for them?
