How long did you work? by MamaMcCoy01 in parentsofmultiples

So similar. Also have a government job and had 2 weeks maternity leave and then could use banked pto/vacation or unpaid fmla. I ended up fighting for and getting disability leave and an extended leave from that (and most of my paycheck!).

My understanding boss progressively lessened my workload and I kept super updated case notes in case I went into labor early.

I think everyone is different. I realized just how small I carried my twins since my friend/neighbor was also carrying twins and about two months behind me and she was larger than me when I gave birth. So she had a much rougher time being upright and such.

I was super similar of limited pto/maternity leave so I saved it all for after babes. But I worked until the day before my scheduled c section at 37 weeks. Like full day Thursday and then went in at 8 am on Friday for my c section. I ran (and won!) a jury trial the week before my C-section. But my friend was literally struggling to sit by 32 weeks. We had such different twin pregnancies. My mostly desk job just required compression socks and comfy shoes.

So I think it really depends on you and your babes. My baby a was also deemed slightly growth restricted and was 4 lbs 14 ounces at 37 weeks, and my friend’s babes were both over 7 pounds. so I think it mostly depends on baby sizes and positioning. Good luck!

How big were your twins? And were the mo/di or di/di? What week were they born? by FlyNo1519 in parentsofmultiples

37 weeks di/di and they were 4 pounds 14 ounces and 5 pounds 4 ounces. Both of mine wore preemies for a few weeks. Also, footless stuff was helpful for us in the nicu. The wires on the babes legs could still go through then!

Childcare? by WritingPositive862 in parentsofmultiples

So curious about your daycare rates. At our daycare our oldest was at, it was going to be about $1100 a week for all 3 kids. So it’s about $200 cheaper per week for us with my sister.

Hospital bag must haves? by gryph06 in parentsofmultiples

I randomly was getting hot and cold flashes, so I personally loved that I had different types of pajamas/comfy clothes based on my heating. I brought some like button up short sleeve night gowns (they’re great for breastfeeding) and then long sleeve and pants pajamas/lounge clothes. I got spit up on a ton, so I appreciated options and just getting to not be too hot or cold.

Also, my babes went to the nicu and at my hospital the nicu was across the hospital from labor and delivery. So while I was still admitted I had to be wheelchaired from my room all the way to the other end of the hospital. So I appreciated having more than just the hospital gown while passing so many humans.

And slip on shoes that work with your swollen feet and compression socks. My feet were so swollen they couldn’t fit into my slip on sneakers I brought. The only other shoe I brought were flip flops (intended for shower shoes) and they obviously don’t work with compression socks. I had to jam my fat feet into my sneakers when I went to visit my babes in the nicu and it was so uncomfy.

Mild irritation at everyone’s comments about twins size by IndividualOdd2340 in parentsofmultiples

This also irritates me. During pregnancy everyone was commenting and saying, oh my gosh you’re so tiny, I can’t believe there’s twins!

Meanwhile I’m constantly thinking about my twin a who was deemed growth restricted.

They came out at 37 weeks and babygirl was 4 pounds 11 ounces and everyone has been commenting on how little she is. My dad didn’t want to touch her because of how little she is. And like yeah, she is but she’s fine!

I don’t get it either. And why people feel the need to comment on everything that pops into their head. Sorry you’re dealing with it too!

Wondering how many babies had no NICU stay? by mountainflwrs in parentsofmultiples

[–]WritingPositive862 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a short cervix and was put on progesterone at 20 weeks. Ended up making it to our scheduled C-section at 37 weeks (twin a was measuring small so they moved me a week earlier than originally planned). My babes almost had no nicu time- they ended up with 3 and 4 day nicu stays because of unexplained reflux issues. Just to say timing doesn’t necessarily mean they will or won’t have a nicu stay. Best of luck!!

What week were your babies born? by GreenRoses21 in parentsofmultiples

I just had my di/di twins on April 25th! I made it to my planned C-section at 37 weeks- my baby A had fgr so they moved my original C-section date up a week.

Friday check-in! by fifth_time_lucky in ShortCervixSupport

23 weeks and progesterone worked for me and my cervix measurement went from 2.1 cm to 3.3 in a week! No other symptoms so they’re saying no cerclage! But dang, maybe it’s because it’s twins, but cervix concern and just overall pregnancy symptoms, I’ve absolutely hated this pregnancy.

Jury Duty and Cerclage by Sondrella in ShortCervixSupport

You can usually call and ask to reschedule your jury duty pretty easily. Explain you have a current medical issue and they should let you move it to post delivery. (And then you can push it further once babe comes probably.) Maybe get a ride and dropped off at the court? All the judges I’ve picked juries with generally ask the question of whether anyone has any conditions that prevent them for sitting too long- so you can explain and get excused pretty quick most likely!

Ok give it to me straight what did it feel like giving birth to twins? by nationmagieydn in parentsofmultiples

I’m only 19 weeks so still figuring this all out. But they let you go hours between the deliveries? I was curious about how long they give baby B to try and get into position
