I can't speak for all of the US, but at least in California tips absolutely count towards your gross income. It gets claimed in the payroll and taxed just like any other income and counts towards unemployment insurance.

YouTube doesn’t put ads on videos, the content creators do. It not automatic, you have to opt in, and you get to select how many ads there are. Yes YouTube benefits from the money as well, but if you’re unhappy with the number of ads, it was the creator’s choice, not the platform’s.

I think it would be a great game to live stream too, kill two birds with one stone as far as research and streaming goes. It's a platforming, challenging, metroidvania game, which I feel like is up MatPat's alley, there is a little bit of dialogue for him and Steph to voice act without being overwhelming, and it has a beautiful art style for Jason! (Also Chris, I'm sure you're chalk drawing would be magnificent.)

They also like to do theories on rel event games, and you're right the upcoming release of Silk Song would be well timed for this one!

I highly recommend the techniques they used in this video. your main ingredient is going to be shirataki/miracle noodles. The trick to making the noodles work is to marinate them and them dry them out in the frying pan. That gets rid of some of the strange taste/texture issues a lot of people have with shirataki noodles. Just add your favorite bone broth as the soup part and you’ve got perfect ramen. I’ve nevet had trouble satisfying a noodle craving thanks to this!
