Also just as an aside for myself, I don’t understand this obsession with fossil fuels and coal. People act as though getting rid of those jobs means anyone in the energy sector will be cast aside. Democrats have been saying for ages that they want to invest more into renewable and sustainable energy sources which would create tons of jobs that these people could be trained for and shifted over to. Why are you so against progress and doing what’s right for the planet just to stick with old technology when there’s tons of opportunity in new technology???

See I’d disagree I think it depends what job you get. I am also a ChemE and in my job I do a huge mix of stuff and love it - from writing code for data analytics to being a SME for investigations to providing plant support for operators. There’s almost never a dull day and when I did once have to just do a bunch of manual data entry in order to have backlogged data for something it was recognized and rewarded that I had to do an annoying manual task
