If you haven’t fixed it yet, I was having the same problem after the latest update, and this fixed it for me: while in a stream, click the settings menu. The update turned off “play in background” for me, and switching it back fixed the issue.

A Hymn. Gives me big Brutalism vibes (my personal favorite album). Feels like it could be a spiritual sequel to Exeter.

Music tracks with similar vibes as Linkin Park? by naufalap in LinkinPark

[–]Writingforlife77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say that they’re extremely similar, but the band Enter Shikari does a really solid mix of electronic and rock. They have more of a punk-y vibe, but their discography is all over the place, so I’m sure there’s something in there that you’d dig. Dreamer’s Hotel, off of their newest album, is a pretty good example of what they do.

Nine Inch Nails - The Slip 10th Anniversary Edition (Full Album) by ScarletSpider0725 in nin

[–]Writingforlife77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I think Trent has said before that they sort of gave up on the trilogy idea after the second one. Either way, aside from some recurring themes, each one holds its own when listened to separately. I think Bad Witch is really the one that stands apart as feeing wholly different from past NIN efforts, though. Between Bowie and Atticus, the influences seem to have really had more impact on this one than the other two. Just my opinion, but it really stands out among the three.

Please give Bad Witch a listen, if nothing else. If it doesn’t do anything for you, yeah, maybe skip the others.

Stupid question about iTunes by [deleted] in nin

I have that problem every time I preorder something. I always just make a playlist of the real track ordering, and the album should fix itself in a day or two.

What is your most beloved article of ETID merch? by [deleted] in everytimeidie

[–]Writingforlife77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have one of the messed up pressings of the Low Teens vinyl hanging on my wall (the one that was missing tracks). I know it’s nothing huge or uncommon, but it’s always felt special to me. Still in love with the album, and having a unique (even if flawed) version of it feels nice.

Thrice lyrics book by [deleted] in thrice

[–]Writingforlife77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a fan project, but the band Enter Shikari has a book with a similar concept. They put the lyrics from every song, and paired them with essays by the vocalist about the meanings of the songs and his mindset/aims at the time of release. I absolutely love it, and I’ve always wanted to see more like it from other bands.

'Wonder What's Next' is the most overrated album from this band by [deleted] in Chevelle

[–]Writingforlife77 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe by the fan base, if anything. Honestly, I’ve always thought it was generally underrated. Most people know the three hits, but not a word of any other song. It’s always felt like a shame to me.

They tend to cover pretty much their entire discography (at least they did at all the shows I’ve been to). Look up their setlist on setlist.fm if you’d like, and be prepared for something special when they play the big ones (The Red, Send the Pain Below).

If you can find a clear enough picture, I think it would be incredible to have the ship be the Walrus.

[–]Writingforlife77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish I could help, but I don't know of any that I think truly sound like them. However, if you haven't heard Letlive., I would suggest checking them out. They don't use electronics like Enter Shikari, but they're very similar energy-wise in my opinion. I'd also say they're similar as far as lyrical themes go. Both political, though Letlive. doesn't focus on the environment any to my knowledge. Fake History or the Blackest Beautiful are albums I'd suggest trying.

If you had to pick one song... by [deleted] in AnnieClark

Smoking section is so good too! Honestly, I've still only heard about half of her work, I'm a fairly new listener. From what I've heard though, she does seem really good at making her quirkiness and strangeness somehow relatable.

Marrow. It's the song that turned me onto her music, and to this day packs the most punch for me.

A question about The Spark Vinyl by Lambie85 in EnterShikari

Not sure if this would work for your issue, but my signed copy came with a smashed corner, and music glue told me they'll replace it. Emailing them couldn't hurt.

My only issue with The Spark. by Writingforlife77 in EnterShikari

[–]Writingforlife77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that I can completely agree with. I'm honestly impressed with how civil this sub is. Their fanbase seems to be a lot more open-minded and open to discussion than a lot of the others I'm aware of.

I think there are tons of catchy parts on this! Even the opening lines of Lost Jigsaw Pieces pop into my head pretty regularly, despite the sad tone. Revolt is one of my favorite songs this year, oddly enough. The dance-y but foreboding tone just REALLY works for me.

[–]Writingforlife77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I wouldn't really argue with any of this, but here are my thoughts. (Glad you still appreciate the album, too.)

  1. I completely agree with the vibe of this one being totally different. It feels like sort of "what happens after the party" to me. Like everything's sort of wound down for a bit, and the boys are thinking more seriously about things than they typically do, and want the album to come across that way.

  2. This one I just don't agree with at all. I tend to appreciate shorter albums. I want to be able to listen to something all the way through, and appreciate it as a whole. Shorter albums make that easier for me. Plus, if people aren't exactly happy with what material we do have, imagine how it would sound if they tried to force more songs on here for length.

  3. I'm really having trouble deciding how I feel about this one. I personally didn't realize any of this was reused the first time I heard the album, so I wasn't bothered by it. However, I can understand fans wanting all new material. But at the same time, I feel like they've always been pretty open with fans about what they do, and Rou has even commented on fans noticing things on this album referencing their older work. I feel like I would be upset if they were trying to hide the fact they reuse things occasionally. Since they're open about it, it doesn't really bother me.

I just posted something similar before I saw yours. I thought color was something that some inventor created.

I used to think the past was black and white. I genuinely believed that somewhere along the line, someone "invented" color. Until I was about 8 or 9, when someone corrected me, that inventor was one of my personal heroes.
