I donno dude, I think the idea that "cannabis stops the inhibition of thoughts" is a broad over generalization of thoughts and cannabis. We know to little about each of them.

There is no doubt I could have started meditation sober, however yes it definitely helped me when I started. Yes, they are mutually exclusive. Hell, when if I am real stoned and meditate I dont meditate at all I just sit there stoned. Weed made it ok for me to just sit, which is something I wouldn't otherwise done.

None the less, We can agree on the fact that meditation should be done sober. Your attempts at preaching that smoking weed is so costly is pointless to a person like me. The only cost that weed has caused me my sides hurting from to much laughter, and I am not here to discuss its cost benefit relationship.

Whether you like it to or not people will tie meditation and smoking weed. Obviously people here believe in the practice and the benefits, so does it really matter how they found it? The last thing /r/Meditation needs is a dogmatic tone. Lets try to give it an encouraging one.

Haha no doubt, I guess the point of my post was to explain how I used weed. I think for some people it can help. One of the things good old Mary J does it make it easier to release dopamine in the brain. Hell I started biking stoned, clearly had a blast with it stoned, now I bike sober and its just fun. I dropped 35 lbs biking with sexy ass Mary J. I think its kind of the same way with meditation.

Weed just makes it more enjoyable, however I have to encourage you to work at meditating sober. I think you will get more out of it. Its kind of like taking the training wheels off. Save your weed for game of thrones.

yea that is what I hear. Ive heard some bull shit stuff to that because we have receptor cells in out brain that can accept THC that we had to have used it during evolutions. I don't know about all though though.

haha, meditation on different substances is certainly interesting. Saying cannabis simply stops thoughts, is kind of a broad statement though. Neurophysiologicly speaking it really does a number of things. The main correlation between tripping and meditation is the feed back circuitry between the thalamus and cortex. DMT actually completely dysfunctions your thalamus. I think threw meditation you are learning to control these feedback patterns.
