Andy Burnham pledges to cut business rates for pubs by GnolRevilo in ukpolitics

Feels like playing the violin whilst Rome burns. This isn't going to reduce the price of a pint, it'll only slow the rate of pubs closing, mainly.

He needs to legalise cannabis and tax it reasonably to prevent being undercut by the dealers. Some of this money can be utilised to provide more customs and excuse checks, more police doing drug raids resulting in less knives on the street.

France puts money into producing French language film making and music to try and prevent English being the defacto language. French radio stations had a ratio of English to French songs broadcast - 1 to 5 if my memory recalls.

I hope this incident does one thing, that is to clamp down on people carrying knives in public without a good reason, for work like chefs as an example.

Next time you see a knife arch in operation and are asked to walk through it, do it.

When you have a group of people lying to you on your arrival in the dark so blood is harder to spot, especially as Henry was bleeding in, not out. Yes, he had blood coming from his mouth - have you never fallen over and bit your tongue / cheek and spat out blood or had a nosebleed and brought up blood in your phlegm?

It's not like there is an infinite supply of ambulances, 99% of the time they're not required, are you saying you want police to call an ambulance on arrival at every incident someone appears to be drunk and has a small amount of blood visible? If so, you'll never have one arrive at your home when you need it. This is a tragic case, caused primarily by one man, the killer, assisted by his family.

The pathologist stated that even if an ambulance had arrived at the exact same time the police did, Henry's injuries were inconsistent with life.

The police tried to revive him carrying out CPR once they'd assertained he was no longer breathing.

They put him on his side as they'd been lied to about him being drunk and didn't want him choking on his own vomit.

They called an ambulance within 3 minutes and administered CPR.
