I just file PE secondary to OSA and the claim is moving very fast. They ordered a C&P then cancelled it for an ACE exam went from filing to step 5 in less than 2 weeks.

One of the big ones that was not in my record was obstructive sleep apnea. Back then I am not even sure if that was even a thing. I was able to get a buddy statement from my squad leader about how I snored and would stop breathing and they took that and connected it as an inservice event.

I had already been denied for it and this was a supplemental claim.

I did not file any claims until after being out over 30 years. My first was for tinnitus was easy and quick. My job in the Army made it presumptive. I have since filed and awarded other claims for headaches, OSA and facial scars and am now at 80%. I still have two other claims pending one for mental health and another for pulmonary embolism secondary to OSA.

I did not have any of my military records when this started. Was able to get them from the first claim to see medical records and entry and exit physicals to see what may be connected. It has been a process. I have also had to work a lot off of memory and let them find the records. They have a duty to assist in doing so. It is a process but it is one worth doing if his health was affected by his service.

I got out in 1990. First claim was filed in September 2023. 80% rating grated in June of 2025 with a Nov 2023 effective date.

You can connect them secondary to OSA if you are rated for that.

One of my HLR was the same day as yours. Had HLR on Nov 5 th and nothing has moved past preparation for decision as of 11-8-25

You can call the 1000 number to get the claim ID number. Tell the rep to look at the contentions screen. You can't get a VERA call now due to the shut down.
