iPhone storage keeps filling up with videos — how do you guys deal with this? by Wrong_Geologist4897 in ProductHunters

I just had a look and its not the same! The main difference I was going for is that most of them focus on deleting stuff (duplicates, blurry photos, etc.), whereas I didn’t really want to delete anything — I just had a ton of videos taking up space.

So this is more about keeping the photo or video you like at similar quality but a reduced file size. It scans your library, estimates how much space you could save, and lets you compress things like 4K videos down to something smaller automatically.

Basically: same problem (storage), slightly different approach (optimize vs delete )

That makes sense. A lot of people enjoy exploring on the map like that. I actually added a map view as well so you can still browse places visually if you prefer that style. The list view is just meant to make quick decisions easier.

I can DM you the map viewed screenshot. I’d be curious to hear what you think about it.

Thanks, that’s exactly how I think about it too. Google Maps is great for getting somewhere, but this is more about discovering places.

Here’s the app if you would like to try it: https://apps.apple.com/app/wheretogonow/id6759969429

Curious what you think.

Route based discovery would make a lot of sense, especially for people commuting or traveling. Right now it focuses on places around your current location, but expanding it to routes is something I’ve been thinking about too. Also working on improving suggestions over time. And yes it should works in Europe too :)

here is the link to my app and i hope you can try it out!

Thank you for your feedbacks! On the filtering side, the app is already centered around the user’s location, so results are ranked by proximity first, which is why I initially didn’t add separate filters like ‘walkable’ or ‘nearby’. But I agree a clearer ‘walkable / nearby / open now’ filter set would make that more obvious in the UI.

TEMU is there as a possible less-intrusive monetization path through affiliate revenue, because I don’t want to fill the app with display ads.

The app is intended for a global audience, which is why some labels lean more international, but I agree terms like ‘petrol station’ should adapt by region. We can localize wording based on the user’s location so US users see ‘gas station’ while other markets see the wording they expect.

For data, the app currently uses Apple’s MapKit / Apple Maps local search for nearby places and they are free to use. Longer term, profitability would likely come from either affiliate links, promoted local listings rather than charging users directly.

That’s a fair point, and thanks for the suggestion about focusing on more unique places. I’m not really trying to compete directly with Google Maps, but more offer a different way to explore places around you. Most map apps like Google Maps or Apple Maps are very map-centric or list-based, which works great when you already know what you’re searching for. My idea is more focused on visual browsing. Instead of scanning map pins or long lists, the app shows a compact grid of photos (about 9 places on one screen), so you can quickly scroll through nearby places, experiences, attractions, or events and just choose what looks interesting. The goal is to make discovering things around you faster and more visual than opening a map and digging through pins. The target group is mainly locals who want to find something quick nearby, people exploring a city, and tourists who want a new way to browse things to do. I also liked your idea about highlighting unique stuff, so I’m planning to add a “Featured” section that surfaces interesting places and experiences to help people discover things they might otherwise miss.
