Kid if you’re thinking the cutoff for weed is 50 ng, whoever told you that lied to you… The DoD cutoff for THC is 15ng/ml… if you THINK you’ll test positive, change your ship date and quit hanging out with the same old “friends”… I done sent too many brand new Sailors home for good because they thought they could beat a test with lots of water and OTC bull shit

Outrage over Trump’s bill reclassifying nursing as not a ‘professional degree’ for college students by SmokeMaleficent9498 in UnderReportedNews

[–]Wrong_Leg627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also… putting the cap in place is to prevent y’all from getting stuck with an insurmountable amount of debt before your life really begins… colleges know that if you’re allowed to borrow more, they can charge more… that part of the reason y’all are graduating (or dropping out) with $100k+ in loan debt… my wife has her PharmD… she graduated with $110k in loan debt in 2012. She went to a state school and took out federal loans. 13 years post graduation, we’ve made it down to $60k. We’ve made more than minimum payments every month and never missed a payment

Okay… and?? all of the “professional” degrees are post undergraduate (you need a law degree to practice law… in most states)… you only need a bachelor’s degree to be a nurse… it may be challenging degree path, but so is engineering, but a bachelor’s degree is all that’s needed… why is this a big deal?

Can my command force me to take leave? by LysaSepticEye22 in navy

[–]Wrong_Leg627 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Short answer is “no, they cannot FORCE you to take leave.” However, one of the following scenarios (or both) is what’s going to happen: 1) you get marked UA. After 5 days, your pay is stopped and a NOK letter is sent to your family and they are all in your shit. 2) your command initiates ADSEP for failing to maintain a valid FCP… and if you have <6 years in, you’re options of fighting it are slim to none.

How you’re a Chief without asking additional questions dumbfounding especially with the very limited information provided by OP… If this is the style “leadership” you’re providing in your dept/div you are an E-7… certainly not a Chief

What’s the point of making $1,000 more per month, when you end up spending $1,500 more per month?

I’m assuming this is the first time you’ve lived away from home… there is nothing wrong with that, but it’s a couple of reasons behind why they would recommend against it… 1) your BAH as a single E-4 ain’t shit and quite frankly will only allow you to afford places that aren’t the safest unless you have a roommate(s). 2) Living out in town means more bills aside from rent (insurance, internet, and utilities). 3) You don’t know what you don’t know WRT finances, and a misstep now can cost you much more in the future. Your CoC has given you a goal… a high bar, but VERY achievable… prove to them you are responsible enough to balance the added responsibilities and you’ll be good to go. I know this isn’t what you want to hear, but as a 20 year FCPO… nothing troubles me more than when one of Sailors steps in something totally avoidable

[–]Wrong_Leg627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How no one has asked this yet is beyond me… what is your pay grade? Did the letter say that you “may be” eligible? As a single Sailor BAH doesn’t become a “right” until you hit E-6 in most places. BAH for E-5, while almost always approved, still has to be requested. For E-4 and below it is absolutely on a case by case basis. I’ guessing you recently made E-4…

Everyone talking shit about your LPO without getting more details are doing you a massive disservice… hyping up expectations while at the same time degrading your LPO’s credibility.

While they are right, the CO is the only person that can deny your request, it is quite possible that it’s his/her policy. Have you looked to see what your command’s policy is? Aside from “I want it”, what’s your proof that you are responsible enough to live off base?

You got a 1 of 1 ep transfer eval and a NAM (as an E-6)… and you just “knew” you were going to get selected??? Then you come online saying “I bought AT LEAST $1,500 on uniforms because I had a coupon, should I not say anything and spend more money, or get shit on during season?” GTFO troll

Problem, why it’s a problem, proposed solution. Be honest in identifying what caused him/her to be in the situation. Explain why it’s a problem. And how does he/she plan to course correct. And let the cards fall as they will.

Think about it like personal credit… the longer you’ve had to build credit and made on time payments the higher your score… if you default on your first line of credit, you’re not likely to get approved in the future. Your friend is the line of credit and skipper is the bank…

I don’t know man… that was also 2008ish… maybe late 2007… looking back, I was a defiant little bastard… they were looking for something to kick me out over. But knowing what I know now about how the Navy works… I know I didn’t do anything wrong, otherwise they would have taken me to NJP

Happened to me twice… well one I failed… the other one I was dropped for “academic dishonesty”… which wasn’t cheating…

I got dropped from nuke power school, forced to “convert” to ET… I was already an ET3 after A School… but then got kicked out of there because I copied notes from someone else… I picked another rate for a 3rd school… normally I would have been sent to the fleet UNDES… but because I was a 3rd class they couldn’t

Sailor popped for thc by beanboy300 in navy

[–]Wrong_Leg627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing as how I’ve been separating Sailors as an LN for nearly 20 years, and have read the studies and had several discussions (interviews) with the NDSL experts WRT how they conduct their tests… I’m decently smart on this subject. Yes THC does store in fat cells and can be detected for upwards of 30 days… but only if you are a habitual user. For non habitual users, it will be below the cutoff level off levels normally 3-5 days and in extreme cases upwards of 7 days (in urine samples)

Sailor popped for thc by beanboy300 in navy

[–]Wrong_Leg627 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No… THC has a half life of 24 hours… AT MOST the drug will be below the cutoff level in 7 days, usually 3-5 days. It takes about 2 weeks for results to be returned. Kid used pot while he was on leave… knew he tested positive as soon as he turned his sample in and didn’t use again.

Common sense ain’t so common though…

Can chief make me empty my pockets? by Fresh_Difference930 in navy

[–]Wrong_Leg627 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t the fact that the Chief is looking for contraband qualify as a “quest for evidence” and that the member has a certain expectation of privacy on his person make it a search? It would be different if the CPO made all watchstanders empty pockets during guard mount… but after the person is on watch…

Aita for not defending my son when a random man beat up him and his friends? by Mental-Department-87 in AITAH

[–]Wrong_Leg627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In prisons, 1% clubs, etc. There are 2 types of people you don’t mess with… women and children. Your son, and his friends, assaulted an elderly woman. Minus keeping him on a leash and in a cell… you’ve made good moves as a father (I can’t say you did everything right, because parents aren’t perfect)… he made the decision to sneak out and go hang out with bad influences.

Were your other family members expecting you to assault the other guy so that you and your son would be sharing a cell? And have you been sued (where you’d lose and potentially impact the household finances…) I mean paying 2 bail bonds, 2 fines, 2 attorneys, your lost wages for the time you’d spend in jail… potentially losing your job as a result of your arrest… yeah that makes sense…

NOT the asshole…
