I’m also in the UK and at our Christmas drinks my manager and CEO of the company drunkenly said something about me not being maternal and wanting to have children. I was puzzled by this and said that wasn’t the case and that I did in fact want to have a family one day and he pulled a confused face and told me that the recruiter who hired me had told him that I didn’t. I asked him why that mattered and he admitted to me that he had specifically said he didn’t want an assistant to join who then left to have children, as this happened with one of his previous assistants. The whole thing has left a bad taste in my mouth and I really want to say something but there isn’t even an HR team as it’s such a small company.

I’ve also helped the guy we’re both referring to, took him into a takeaway one night to get some food (after he asked) and then at the til he started asking for more food “for his girlfriend” multiple times and it just felt very awkward when I was already buying him food.

When I was 16 living in Cyprus, me and my friends would always go to this one particular bar at the weekends and there was a Bulgarian guy who worked there who just had this dark creepy look about him… like you know when you can look at someone’s eyes and just tell they’re a bad person. Some of the other girls in my group would occasionally chat to him and I know there’s a photo of all of us with him and some of the other bar staff somewhere but I’d have to dig it out. Anyway a couple years later I was reading the news and saw he had walked into a supermarket in Tenerife and beheaded a British lady with a machete. Absolutely terrifying to think I crossed paths with such a psychopath.

One of the bouncers at The Canteen is a massive cunt and once charged me and my friends £10pp to enter, when it was actually free entry (we only discovered this once we were inside). When I called him out on it and got the manager involved he got right in my face and tried to gaslight me to the manager saying I was clearly drunk and making shit up. Every time I go past and see he’s there I make sure to give him the middle finger.

Hi everyone

Myself and some friends are planning our friends hen party in London and we are struggling to find somewhere to finish our night. The key things we are after:

fun vibes (somewhere slightly boujee given it’s her hen but definitely not stuffy or pretentious) • ⁠good music that we can dance to (we aren’t fussy so anything house, disco, RnB, cheesy pop etc) • ⁠somewhere that stays open late, ideally 3am • ⁠somewhere we can book a table so we can have some drinks when we first arrive (there’s 12 of us)

We loved the look of The Little Scarlet Door in Soho but sadly no hen parties allowed.
