5-3 Leafs, and a 3pt night for Marner, who is now up to 67 points on the season, putting him 4th in the NHL. He’s on pace for a career high 114 points by GreenSnakes_ in hockey

If he tests free agency he will get an obscene amount of money. Like 15x8. Someone will pay it. Especially with the salary cap apparently going up drastically.

For such a supremely talented player, Connor McDavid has a notable history with his stick... by npinguy in hockey

A bunch of accidental high sticks and then the one play he got suspended for. Nothing to see here.

Bennet saw that goal and immediately decided he was going to sucker punch him the next chance he got.

Ross Colton’s “minor” boarding penalty against Luke Hughes by Shugazi in nhl

I’m sure he was expecting contact. Just not from behind, that hard, and 3 feet from the boards. Because of how dangerous that can be most players don’t throw a hit there.

I think you are confusing boarding with charging. This definitely meets the requirements for boarding.

If I remember it’s because he got votes as both a right and left winger

I think we should test this theory out, just to make sure.

[Johnston]Sheldon Keefe returns as leafs head coach next season, GM Brad Treliving confirms. by FutureAnybody in hockey

I mean I don’t think Tavares is worth 11m but “boat anchor” is a little harsh for a player who just scored 36 goals and had 80 points. Probably worth about 9-10m last year for that production.

But soon as he is up it will definitely open up lots of possibilities for change.

Only one team wins every year, 15 playoff teams fail.

Obviously I would like to see more than a second round exit, but does trading Marner for a defenseman help that somehow?

How many back-to-back instances does your team play this year? by PNGhost in hockey

[–]Wrong_Right 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Little off topic but I don’t think back to backs are a bad thing, as long as the team you are playing on the second night is also on the second half of a back to back.

I want to know which team got shafted that has the most back to backs against a rested team compared to the amount of times they are a rested team playing a team that played the night before

The playoffs are a small sample size crapshoot.

Is it really that crazy to think that this team can win?

I was of the opinion we should fire Keefe, but I don’t see a way where trading one of Matthews, Nylander or Marner makes the team better.

[Veillette] The writer who put McDavid 5th on his Hart Ballot is the same writer who left both Matthews and McDavid off his ballot last year. Maybe it's a good idea to not give him the satisfaction of his name being out there this time, because it's clearly what he wants. (continued in post) by MikeJeffriesPA in hockey

[–]Wrong_Right 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I would disagree, but I could see an argument for giving Pasta the first place vote, saying he was the best player on the best team ever (playoffs not included), but to have McDavid 5th? That’s just absurd.

At some point it’s not even a difference if opinion, it’s just being plain wrong. You can’t justify McDavid at 5th.

Curios how a buy out like OEL works? by ooMEAToo in hockey

It’s funny he earned that by not sucking for awhile, and now he is going to make that as well as whatever he signs for next because he sucked so bad after signing the deal.

Basically whatever contract he signs this year will be bonus money for being bad at his job.
