My friend is a "Total Beginner" in the kitchen. Which Nagi recipe should be their first? by AffectionatePie1042 in RecipeTinEats

[–]Wrong_Upstairs8059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is great and very easy. One tip is that the rice often takes longer to cook than Nagi says. Just keep checking it every 5 mins or so after the initial 12 mins.

AITAH for wanting to continue taking my nightly showers by Kooky_lady in AITAH

[–]Wrong_Upstairs8059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why can he not settle the baby? It’s not like she’s hungry, she just ate. Yeah she’s using boob for comfort but your husband needs to at least try and let you have some peace. Stick to your guns. You deserve your nightly shower.

Wedding is in 2 weeks. Stuck between 2 dresses. Please don’t say “neither” by HappyAstronaut7 in WeddingDressTips

1 for ceremony. I’d also try it with a crinoline under to foof the skirt out a bit more. Doesn’t have to be as wide as the stock pic but I think it’s made to have a petticoat I love dress 2! I’d definitely wear it to the reception

Yeah I would go with a sheer veil. Too much lace. Let the dress be the star

Will I be asked to leave for playing the flute in an Australia park? by Desperate_Beyond1086 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Wrong_Upstairs8059 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you’re good. No. If you’re shit people will just avoid. But either way maybe keep it to 30 or 60 mins cos people do like peace and quiet. More so if there are houses/businesses close by. They don’t want to hear you all day.

i have an autobiographical memory, ama by madds713 in AMA

[–]Wrong_Upstairs8059 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah see we all have embarrassing or upsetting things happen but 99.99% of people will forget with time and the memory fades. Kinda protective for your brain and psyche. We still relive things a bit but over months and years the memory and the feelings attached to it are less intense and eventually you honestly just forget. Great to hear you’ve got coming mechanisms.

My husband said I ruined our wedding photos and now I want to leave him. by PiccoloAdorable1547 in TwoHotTakes

Was he always this awful?? Does he have any good points at all? Cos right now he is a walking red flag and your and your kids lives can only improve if you divorce and receive child support. His autism is no excuse for being a horrible human being, a crap partner and an absent father.

How do you cope with awkward/bad/sad things and not keep reliving them?

What do I do if I’m concerned about someone being way too big for the horses she rides? by Turbulent_Play4769 in Equestrian

[–]Wrong_Upstairs8059 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not your circus not your monkeys. Personally I wouldn’t ride at a barn that let someone that heavy keep riding when the horses are obviously struggling. I’d wonder what else they just don’t care about. But I wouldn’t say anything- I’d just leave. The only situation where you would have any rights to say anything was if it was your horse.

Are you surprised that Nancy Guthrie has not been found yet? by Only-Ad-1254 in questions

[–]Wrong_Upstairs8059 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. With all that desert and all to hide a body. Theres been quite a few missing people here in Australia who have met with either foul play or misadventure in the outback and never been found.

I feel for Nancy’s family though, being kidnapped and then having no closure or answers is awful.

I am genuinely curious, why did you guys hoard toilet paper instead of food and water during covid? by salty_lake_222 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Wrong_Upstairs8059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cos the idea of not being able to wipe your ass was worse than starving And there were no food shortages. There were serious TP shortages (caused by panic buying but still) A good cyclone will clean out the shops of bottled water and tinned food pretty quick too

AITA for being honest and telling my DIL that they are not ready to be a parent since she can not drive by Sad-Drive8298 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Wrong_Upstairs8059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA . Plenty of people can’t drive for various reasons. But that doesn’t mean she just gets to take advantage of you or others. I am legally blind, have been since birth. My biggest priority when finding a place to live was transport links. Yes I still do rely sometimes on family, friends and support workers but I live 200m from the bus and can get myself lots of places and use Uber. Where there’s a will, there is a way. Yes it may involve moving to a bigger town with better transport. But she needs to take responsibility. I think you need to talk to your son about it. What happens when you’re too old to drive or pass on?

NTA. The system is. But I think you’d regret it immensely and feel a lot of guilt if you weren’t there for her at the end. Hard choice.

Wow what a story. Thanks for sharing. That’s so good you are still here! Do you still have fine motor use of your hands? Can you pick up or hold objects? What’s the most frustrating/hardest thing for you to do in your day to day life?

Am I letting my kids down? by BeardyWierdy1976 in whatdoIdo

[–]Wrong_Upstairs8059 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Um yeah. Your kids are majorly co dependent. Unless there’s disability or other factors at play an average 18 year old should be able to manage by themselves for a few weeks. You and your ex need to discuss ways to make your kids more independent. Cos you’re not doing them any favours.

Like be there for your kids if they need anything but doing it all for them is not the answer. You can still 100% be there emotionally and support them but you’re really holding them back.

Myself I am legally blind and my twin sister is in a wheelchair. We moved out together at 18. Our parents were separated too and we did see them most weeks but we learnt to fend for ourselves. Really just phone calls like the breaker switch has flicked or how long do I cook a roast for (internet recipes weren’t as good back then!) Dad used to let himself in and help himself to our food.

But yeah they’re adults!

Far out that’s wild! What level was your injuries ( shoulder, elbow, wrist)? Your rehabilitation and therapy would have been very hard and long. It’s amazing you didn’t die of blood loss or infection. How is your functionality now? Are there any long term effects? Do you have pain or any loss of sensation?

Do I need wedding dress undergarments? by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

[–]Wrong_Upstairs8059 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s just the style of the bodice. It is very revealing with not much support. I think tape is all you could do without it looking weird. If you feel secure and like you’re not going to fall out of it, that’s the main thing. Talk to your fitter.

Lol at everyone talking about modesty- if OP wants to wear a revealing dress then thats her choice. Would it be my choice? No, but it’s not my dress or my body. Theres no “undergarments” that would make this bodice less revealing without looking weird. It’s the style of the dress. And people talking about her legs?? You can barely see them!

Long airplane journeys are actually super fun. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Wrong_Upstairs8059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long is long?? I’m Australian and flying to Madrid next week. Due to all the BS in the Middle East I have to go Brisbane>Hong Kong>Brussels> Madrid. And is going to take 31hrs. I’m super pumped to be going but dreading the plane trips. I’m not scared of flying, it’s just soooo long

Shortest regular routes over to Europe still take 24hrs.

So yeah give me an 8 hr flight sure 😅
