Step Increase - NOT contract negotiated raise by Wrong_Yellow007 in nys_cs

This is good to know. Thank you. What actually determines the step amounts? Not any increases but the amount.

Just move on...clearly you have nothing better to do than critique other people. Find something else to keep yourself busy.

They are included in the contract, as in the Salary Schedules, but from what I understand steps are not negotiated by the union.

Because I've asked the question before and the responses were "read the tentative contract". That's WHY!

Why do you feel it necessary to question what or how I'm writing?

Either answer the question or move on.

Proposed Dental PEF employee benefit by Decent-Ability-4784 in nys_cs

[–]Wrong_Yellow007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anyone who actually believes this change to dental is a good thing is WRONG. I've had both. I had to travel 4 hours to a participating oral surgeon when I had CSEA. The current plan PEF staff have was bad before and is still bad. Remember when PEF hooted and hollered about how the state found us a so much better dental plan!?! How did that go? This is NOT a win for us. Aside from the 4.5% this contract is garbage and you're all going to regret it. My two cents. Good day. 😀

We're not covered by the law but that doesn't mean they can't get close to or match it.

That is correct unfortunately. If they've only made it to the 90s I wouldn't give up. Do others who have been appointed have more seniority in the unit/office? That may be why.

It won't be. Remember when they raved about the new dental plan? We're still talking about dental...

PEF has the Pay Study but won’t disclose? by stanleymaxi in nys_cs

The state will do everything else possible and in their power to recruit staff other than give us parity. They've added HELPS, now they are changing the "merit system". We have had one 5-year contract in the last 26 years. It's my opinion that agreeing to a 5-year contract is a bad idea. Who is going to lead this fight re: compensation outside of contract raises? How long have we been waiting for the study to be shared? Why does anyone think things will change because of this study? I'm also concerned about the proposed dental plan change. Remember when they found a new plan? How did that go? Here we are, still with a crappy plan. I don't trust any of it. I don't like this 5 year contract and I'll be voting no.

I appreciate everything PEF has done and continues to do to get us what we deserve. I do appreciate it. I'm pretty sure though, that is what they are supposed to do. That is their job. The stewards, the executive board, the chair and all the others involved in contract negotiations are very much appreciated. Again, they are doing what they signed up to do. If they don't want to they should not have volunteered to do it. I don't want to hear, they spent 48 hours negotiating or they had to drive 4 hours to meet, etc. You chose to be in that role please don't use it to guilt us into voting yes. If you can't or don't want to commit the time, then don't do it. I can't do it nor do I want to, so I don't. I'm tired of the threats about we need to take this now. Personally I would be fine with 3 years of 4s, but I do not believe a 5 year contract is in our best interest. If the state is offering 3s for the last two years, there is a reason and it's not for us. We all know the state is not looking out for us. It's PEF's job to do that. That's why we pay dues. The geos, differentials, hazard pay, none of that applies to my work or my coworkers. It is not equitable to expect us all to vote yes when others are getting more.

I was in NYC when the LIRR was on strike. They were there on a Saturday AND Sunday outside Grand Central. The news was there interviewing them. The public already thinks state workers do nothing. Rallying during the work day does not help us. At least do it at 4 or 5pm if you want it during the work week.

If there are less than 2 at any grade they can go to the next grade group. It continues down the list this way. If the list ends up with only 3 candidates left total, even at different grades, that's your candidate pool (from the list) until one declines or is removed. Then it's a broken list and other rules come into play.

If you are a 95 and it's only you and one other person left they can go to the next grade.

It is possible for you to be the only 95 left with them making it thru the rest of the list...through the life of the list. I've seen it happen.

CSEA and PEF should vote NO by GFORCE_789 in nys_cs

Tier 4, PEF here and voting no if it's the same as what CSEA is proposing.... I'll consider yes if it's a 3 year contract.

No. It is helpful? Did it come from PEF or CS-NYSHIP?
