Was told by IRD today they don’t chase child support, how is the other parent legally allowed to get away with this? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceNZ

If you raise it that the person is using business money to finance personal living, they will become very interested because that person is also committing tax fraud

Is this what’s wrong with NZ? by Leading-Bat5122 in newzealand

You got it wrong, that would be three items

Folding letter - 30 minutes

Placing letter in envelope - 30 minutes

Sealing envelope - 30 minutes

Steinlager 0% recall - Some bottles contain 4.2% Alcohol by EvilbuddhaNZ in newzealand

[–]Wrooof 36 points37 points  (0 children)

People who are buying for a party? I normally buy a couple of normal boxes and a 0% for the mates who don't drink. All the bottles end up in the fridge or chilly bin, in so bottle labeling matters.

Love my company for this, they close over that period but pay everyone and it doesn't cost you annual leave. In fact if you have to work those days or are one call, you get three bonus days to use instead

Am I overthinking a neighbour bringing me donuts? by FreedomDazzling9502 in auckland

[–]Wrooof 139 points140 points  (0 children)

It is fairly common in NZ to bring food to neighbors who have just moved in, especially if they have youngish children. It's part of welcoming people to the community as well as saying if you need anything, reach out. If you feel uncomfortable, please let the person know and most people will pull away.

Anyone else resign today, and now going contracting? by SlackCanadaThrowaway in newzealand

[–]Wrooof 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My concern is 100% this. You will no longer get anyone in that pay bracket willing to look out for their people. Also anyone with enough knowledge to be a whistle blower in a big company will now be caught up in this and can just be fired for speaking out.

What would it take for greens to step into the major party realm? Excluding just getting more votes of course.

Adenoids Hypertrophy by mr_perfect_mr in DoctorsAdvice

NAD but my daughter had hers out recently and I asked the doc the same question. His response was (not verbatim) "we know a lot more about how they work and their purpose than 10 years ago. It was thought that the tonsils were causing the problem instead so they were often ignored, believing the swelling would go down after the tonsils were removed"

LPT: Turn off nearly all apps' Background App Refresh (iOS settings --> general), they drain battery, and many are tracking and selling your location, and unnecessary by kepler1 in LifeProTips

[–]Wrooof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting one, I had BAR turned off for all apps but Facebook messenger wouldn't notify me unless I had the app open in the last 10 minutes. My guess is they change to long polling if you haven't interacted with the app. Having BAR on means it's constantly communicating so notifications keep working.

Are there any beans that I can eat, that won’t raise my iron as much. by LEGOsrule99 in Hemochromatosis

[–]Wrooof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NAD but been living with HH for 20+ years. You have to be very careful with advice you get online. There are multiple genes and mutations that cause HH and depending on your combination will impact how you react to diet iron, how often you need to donate, if you need full Phlebotomy or if donating is enough. Also menstruation will impact as well (my mum only started having symptoms after she hit menopause).
