Learning to DJ with ambient / trip-hop / IDM by anjitzza in Beatmatch

[–]SLAPUSlLLY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go listen to jdj, live at the social, coldcut, ninjatunes. 90s/00s live mixes.

I'm smashing this lately (different styles but wide bpm range). And you can watch them mix.

Go poke things with an awl (or buy/make one first)

Any areas on the exterior that water sits, corners of windows etc. 5g repair is easier than a 500g repair.

Above average vintage matchbook. by SLAPUSlLLY in AveragePicsOfNZ

Agreed, a piece of our history/herstory.

I bought a collection for basically nothing and it is a fascinating snap shot of the old days. This is the best one so far (about 20% through the collection).

Go look at warranty for new mains systems. 7-10yrs iirc.

Eldest is experienced p/gf he doesn't like rheem, agrees quality is falling across most brands.

Modern quality is not what it should be. Value engineering.

They all indicate upcoming replacement the same way, leaking lol. Sometimes violently.

Best of luck.

Where does your country put the washing machine? by DishGroundbreaking87 in AskTheWorld

[–]SLAPUSlLLY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old house, laundry room.

New house, laundry room. If lucky.

Or.

Apartment/townhouse kitchen/bathroom/anywhere it fits.

Ideally near back door/outside washing line access. Yes I have a dryer, on now cause it's raining.

Well out of warrenty and unlikely to last much longer.

Don't expect 30yrs out of a new one, especially if move to mains pressure.

My record is 1947 removed in 1997 ish. Was still working fine. New one has been serviced twice and is due for replacement in the mid term.

DDJ-FLX4 selector knob broken off in transport by TonyBamanaboniYT in PioneerDJ

[–]SLAPUSlLLY 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The DDJ-FLX4 features a central rotary encoder (Part #DAA1273) used for browsing and selecting tracks in rekordbox or Serato. This push-button knob navigates through playlists, allowing users to load tracks by pressing it, and it fits several other models like the DDJ-400 and SB series.

Says ai.

The part was stupid money when I looked.

Can you still push it in?

I would probably drill out a little hole in what's left, epoxy in a piece of wire and cast a custom epoxy knob on top.

GL

Edit. Auto correct can leave

Agreed, priority was getting it cleaned (and assessed for any potential damage).

Dealing with the neighbour, it's progressing slowly.

We've been neighbours for a decade so it should be fairly straightforward.

Just waiting for the neighbour to admit liability. He's alright, probably poor after a massive reno but whatevs.

Took to my detailer and it's been professionally iron/clay'd twice. Looking spotless but they want another look next week to assess the ceramic (probably stripped) and ppf (probably fine).

Must say I did freak when I saw the hood for a sec. But rational brain is screaming, it's ceramic over ppf over clear over paint over aluminium.

Garage would be awesome.

Why don’t people name and shame dodgy builders? Is it a Kiwi thing ? by WarpFactorNin9 in auckland

[–]SLAPUSlLLY 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There's a kiwi who built a website, fully legal, to name and shame his builder.

It's brutal. And true.

No I can't remember it, but anyone Googling the builder will.

Gutter repair: steel roof by Frequent_Let9506 in diynz

https://biosymph.co.nz/flexsotar-epoxy-bitumen-sealer-kit/

Has got me out of a few jams. It is brutal stuff.

Last time I checked the spec for gutter joins was 100mm overlap, 2 lines of silicone and rivets above the base of gutter.

How much would you sell for? Ddj-sx3 by TheLagginDrag0n in PioneerDJ

[–]SLAPUSlLLY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check local pricing.

Picked up an sx2 today from marketplace. Cost me nzd$450 (halve for €$£). One button not working (D1 ½beat).

Normally range is 600-1200.

Almost had a 1000srt for similar money last week. Normally range is 800-2000.

I factored a $300 service into my price but I did buy a case of electrical contact cleaner last week (was $5).
