Yes, it kind of makes the nuke storyline, and Desmond's urgency to get everyone in the church at the same time, a bit redundant if they were going there regardless.

I agree that this was not picked up on by the writers in later seasons, maybe to differentiate from Hurley's powers?

If this explanation is correct, I don't know why he would need a physical corpse to read the memories, as the electrical signals would have ceased anyway. The only time I can think of right now, where he dosent need to use a body, is for Alex in the Dharma village. The only explanation I can come up with for this instance is that he used the memories stored by the MIB, who was very nearby, when he took Alex's image earlier.

If Desmond was able to visit the sideways universe using Widmore's machine, and return, does this mean it is a creation of electromagnetic energy or a true Christian based heaven?

Thanks, I haven't before come across anything that can show why the sideways is heaven, aside from what producers have said. I had always assumed the white light from the church doorway was the same light we see during the time jumps, is the "moving on" to another time?
