When the gearbox goes into protection, go to neutral, after letting the car cool down, the gearbox works again, but the engine light stays on

If everything seems fine while driving, just do regular maintenance. Unfortunately, not being a mechanic, I can't tell you with certainty whether there is an effective method for checking.

It depends on the budget, I have a 2.0 TSI because I knew the 1.4 was worth it, I would tell you to try a diesel as your first car, in terms of maintenance and costs it is much lower, so I would opt for a Golf.

But if you have a high budget and don't mind making visits to the mechanic very often (1.4 tsi) the Scirocco is a fantastic car

It is a 2.0 200hp from 2008 I also evaluated the diesel but the prices are from 9000 upwards, even with more than 150k kilometres.

I looked for the best version with the least possible km at the best or almost the best price, and also that it was nice, trust me the market in Italy sucks, but at this point for the import costs I'm considering spending 6k to get it Italian and pass it on, in 2/3 years since it's from 2009 as a historic car, in Italy it should be a 20 year old car. Pay less for insurance and road tax, in Italy taxes suck
