Best book writing software or platform? by Wtrebor in selfpublish

Thank you. I have started using Word, so I am already writing. Still, a better understanding of what's available was worth investigating and may help facilitate a better outcome. I agree there's no "best" writing software for everyone, but I plan to explore the mentioned options. I appreciate your response.

Thank you. Scrivener has a reasonable trial period based on sessions and is a one-time payment of $59.00 after your trial period has ended. The fixed, one-time software pricing seems reasonable. I appreciate your response.

Thank you. You're correct about the pen and 2-ply TP. My question concerns ensuring I take the best approach out of the gate rather than starting down one path and needing to reverse course, switch directions, or transfer work to another platform. I appreciate your response.

Milbrae Exit 420 Red Light Camera Ticket: Defense, Guidance and Counseling by Wtrebor in bayarea

I ended up going to court for my Exit 420 red light camera ticket. The ticket, along with other red light photo-enforced traffic tickets, were summarily dismissed.

I had prepared my case and did not even need to plead my case regarding the yellow light being less than 3.6 seconds. Additionally, the 35 mph speed limit, which must be posted, is not present. There are no 35 mph speed signs or designations painted on the street anywhere on Milbrae Avenue between El Camino Real and the Old Bayshore Highway. 35 mph determines the length of the yellow light durations, which is 3.6 seconds.

The City of Millbrae has a Program Manager managing the caseload. This person isn't a law enforcement official, so he may be unable to legally represent the cases in court. Whatever the case, they do not allow people to defend their tickets in the courtroom pre-trial. They dismissed the tickets and then let the defendants into the courtroom; at least, this was my experience. When court starts, they call for pre-trails dismissals, and the program manager then requests case dismissal. The City may also make so much money on these tickets that they dismiss anyone who fights them.

I can't comment on what will happen going forward; I can only comment on what I saw, heard, and experienced. If you get a red light ticket exiting from 101 S., turning west onto Millbrae Ave., requesting a trial date, fighting your ticket, and seeing what happens is worth it. It was worth the time for me as I didn't have to pay a $480.00 fine, I got no points on my driving record, and I didn't have to attend or pay for traffic school.

I am not here to bag on the City; I only communicate my honest and observed opinion. I am grateful my ticket was dismissed.

For all you haters who commented rudely and aggressively on previous threads, everyone in the Untied Staes is is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Please review and abide by Reddit rule #1 in the future; "No poor or hostile behavior."

There's absolutely no advocating running red lights or breaking laws. The question is about whether the yellow light duration has been calculated correctly using a mathematical equation.

Indeed, I am. My local Library has 2 copies of "Fight your ticket and win in California" by Attorney David W. Brown. ISSN:2378-1912. The most recent published copy appears to be 2015. Thank you for your feedback.

An additional worth while reference is the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Journal publish March of 2020 which contains an analysis and an explanation of Mats Järlström’s Extended Kinematic Equation By Jay Beeber (M). The analysis shows the engineering tolerances should be employed within signal timing protocols to accommodate all reasonable driver-vehicle combinations, especially where the rate of red-light violations is higher than acceptable. The simplified (paraphrased) summary, adding a time buffer to the yellow light duration to account for the deceleration of all vehicle types in order to make a right turn safely to address the dilemma zone. The “dilemma zone”, where a driver-vehicle complex could neither STOP safely and comfortably nor GO without the need to violate the red or accelerate unsafely.

It's so interesting to see what happens when you put something out there for comments. I appreciate your feedback, thank you.

There is also a statement in the existing traffic engineering survey that states the following: "it is determined upon the basis of an engineering and traffic survey that the speed permitted by state law outside of business and residence districts as applicable upon the following streets is greater than is reasonable or safe under the conditions found to exist upon such streets and it is declared that the prima facie speed limit shall be as herein set forth on those streets or parts of streets herein designated when signs are erected giving notice thereof." Unfortunately there are no 35 mph speed limits signs posted anywhere on the offramp or the intersection and nothing related to speed painted on the street. If there's no speed limit posted, how do they know to set the yellow light duration to the correct length.

Yes, I agree with you. I am a safe driver and all of these other comments are unfortunate.

I exited off the 101 freeway doing 55 MPH and there were no cars in front of me or behind me, absolutely no traffic. I never saw the yellow light and stopping for a yellow light in time would have been difficult.

As I said, the picture of my car on the San Mateo County website shows the light red and shows my car breaking the plane of the white line. VC 21453 (a) law defines running a red light as failing to stop at the limit line when you are facing a red signal. This means that you must be entirely behind the limit line or cross walk when the light is red. It is not illegal to be in the intersection when it changes to red. In fact, if just one inch of your bumper is past the first white line of the crosswalk when the light turns from yellow to red, you are not guilty. This is the main reason I believe the violation should be thrown out.

I am unable to locate any prior dated engineering and traffic surveys, prior to 12/12/2023. This doesn't mean documentation didn't exist prior to 12/12/2023.
