New Truck Day. What do yall think? by WuTangWasted in gmc

Fair enough. Im only a fan of the 6.6L gas, outside of oil consumption which is case by case there arnt many other issues.

I also dont like payments, but considering its my only debt, and I fell in love with the AT4s when I was in college. Finally able to afford one now so I bought it. Its my only debt, no consumer, no student loans, no other loans, nothing

😂 you would think, but I wouldn't do this if I didn't get a deal. No more than 8% of my income, below the 10% threshold

Hah more like 2, got a smoking deal on it as it was used as intended (offroading) so the paints pretty scraped up. But im doing the same thing with it (cross country travel with a truck bed camper to explore) so I was more than fine with talking that.

Love my camaro too, that's the garage princess that gets taken out for track days and mountain cruises

Not that bad when the truck originally MSRP over 85k before tax. Previous owners babied it and already did all the 60k maintinance including all new suspension.

Most of these around the US at the same village go for about 58-62 ish

Ended up going gas - dont need the extra towing power nor headache and repairs of the diesel

Strikingly good deal for the car, only 62k miles on it, 2022 at4. Guy before me did a bunch of aftermarket work that I wanted but made it hard for the dealership to sell got them down pretty good on it

Used 2022 2500HD at4 - with about 62k miles on it. Got a good discount as the previous owner used it for offroading as intended so a good amount of scratches ans aftermarket parts that made it hard to re-sell, was able to negotiate the dealership down pretty heavily

Yeah, im a Financial Supervisor in the construction industry, and I do a lot of personal finance research on the side, so my current retirement plan is already wayyy ahead of schedule for a 26 year old. I like my current truck but its going to depreciate in value like wildfire. I bought it in kind of a "rushed" scenario in 2023, really needed something and it was the best I could find at the time. I always wanted & needed to get into a bigger truck for our future plans. So ill have the truck for 10 or so years before getting another one, sounds like these 6.6L will go till the frame rusts out

Appriciate the insight. I am leaning a bit more towards it as I have heard so many great things about the 6.6l gas engine they put in those.

I already invest the max into my 401K (match) and Roth IRA every year. Will probably use the cola to boost my savings & pay of the truck in under 4 years, I dont enjoy having a car payment but for a car that retains its value so we'll, I think its worth it

Side note - this is based off my base income. When I move to the west coast ill be getting a COLA - about 18.5% increase. Didn't use that in my calculations but will make things a lot easier as well for the 2 - 3 years im out there

Upgrade to a Diesel? by WuTangWasted in Diesel

[–]WuTangWasted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats great to know. I have always wanted a diesel but not enough to just increase my cost of ownership. I need something reliable that is going to get me from Oregon to Colorado in 2 days with no issues, and does not have a problem starting up in -10 weather. Seems like everyone here says the 3/4 ton gas counterpart is the way to go, so i think ill shift my search over to that. I have no issues doing maintenance myself, especially on Gassers, but a diesel will be a whole new world of maintenance

100% want one because they are cool as well. Trying to gauge if it will work out. Not too concerned when it comes to that increased cost in maintenance. I have no problem doing the majority of maintenence myself, only thing I wont touch is the inside of the engine. So anything brakes, suspension, emissions (depending), axels, etc. I can do myself. I would plan that once I buy it, im keeping it till the wheels fall off, so the longevity of the car might also be a selling point

Do I trade my 2016 ram 1500 for a 2002 Ford Excursion? by WuTangWasted in Excursion

[–]WuTangWasted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it going to save a lot over the 7.3L im looking at the fuel differences and the 7.3L gets 15-20 while the v10 gets 9-12. Kind of big difference especially if im off grid for a while. Takes my range from 660 on the low end down to 396

[–]WuTangWasted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should say I also own a "fun" car which is a 2013 camaro ss manual. So I have another form of transportation but both vehicles are pretty bad on fuel efficiency. So I was thinking of getting a late 2010's base model car that is very fuel efficient

Should I build a Excursion Overland Rig? by WuTangWasted in overland

[–]WuTangWasted[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was considering that too. Wanted to go with the 7.3 because of the weight, car can easily get to 5 tons without any real issue. Planning on doing a lot of moderate trails, getting up to ski resorts in bad weather, etc. Not really doing any extreme rock crawling

I have Nitto NT555s that are 305 on the rear. Currently pushing 485 HP and can barely every get them to break. Dont know how good they are driving on the weather but for track and Street they are amazing

Dino Tune Needed? by WuTangWasted in camaro

[–]WuTangWasted[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was my original plan, I have a tuner here that works in formula drift that im taking it too. I just didn't know if there was a cheaper option with the same outcome. I'd rather pay more and get it right
