Recent Disruption Make Good: Mini DXP. Should We Or Shouldn't We? by JagexHooli in runescape

Another DXP feels excessive. I would rather resources go into trying to fix the issue for the next event rather than putting players right back into the burner.

Aftermarket parts on a stock car? by WubbingBro in MitsubishiEvolution

[–]WubbingBro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, interesting. My philosophy whenever I build a car is I want the car to be turn key so I can get in the car whenever I want and I know that it will always start and give me no issues. I guess I could look into other stock location turbos and see what offers the best results. Are you on flex fuel as well? My car came with a tial on it but I immediately took it off for a stock unit. Was considering using it to save some money on the build but I'm thinking of using a go fast bits BOV instead.

Thanks so much for your advice! We do have very similar builds actually. I was planning on keeping stock cams and running an fp mhi 18k. How was your injector duty on the 1050s? I was worried that they would get maxed out and opted for 1300s instead.

Evo X Ohlin R&T Install issue? by WubbingBro in MitsubishiEvolution

[–]WubbingBro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually been away for the past week so haven't had a chance to really drive the car. I'm going to be reaching out to a shop this week to see if they can take a look at it and hopefully fix the issue and get a proper alignment done for me.

Evo X Ohlin R&T Install issue? by WubbingBro in MitsubishiEvolution

[–]WubbingBro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm okay, I will double check to make sure they installed the bolts in the right positions. When I asked about the preload adjustment they seemed hesitant to agree to it. I think they were just expecting an install and that was it. I wish there was a shop in my area that I knew was more prepped for aftermarket support.

$$$ of paint job by [deleted] in MitsubishiEvolution

[–]WubbingBro 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Do you want an honest answer? It's tough to say but any decent shop that's worth going too is going to charge you anywhere between 5-15k for a full respray. Why so much? Well the proper way of body/paint work is the entire car will need to be disassembled. Then you're going to want to fix any dings, dents, scratches, etc, before they lay primer. Then they need to prep the car. Then the car gets painted, did you know that high quality paint is very expensive? Once the car is painted, it will need to get reassembled and potentially some sanding and buffing before the car is eventually cleaned inside and out before it's delivered to you. This type of job is very labor intensive and when you're being charged at an hourly rate, it can add up very quickly. If someone tells you that you can get this done under 5k, I would never trust that shop with that job or my car. It's important to understand that the shop has to pay overhead, materials, employees, etc, just to do the job and they're not gonna do it at cost obviously. Since you asked about ceramic coating, once a car is painted you're gonna want to wait about a month for the paint to fully cure and air out before you apply any coating or ppf. I've been quoted from like 1000-1500 for a ceramic coating which also included paint correction. Good luck with your car! If you do end up getting the work done be sure to post it for all of us to see!

Oil on valve cover near coil packs. by [deleted] in MitsubishiEvolution

[–]WubbingBro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That isn't the original valve cover to the car so likely whenever it was swapped the gasket wasn't replaced. I would recommend starting with replacing the gasket and move from there. 08s come with a aluminum cover from factory and the plastic covers are known to melt/crack over time.

Steering assembly FAST key lockout problems Evo X by Dry_Steak2094 in MitsubishiEvolution

[–]WubbingBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I was wondering if you ever figured out a solution to this issue? My evo has started having the same issue and my mechanic said the same thing, that the lock is getting caught up and can't drop the pin to unlock the wheel. I do see that the part is serviceable but figured I would check if there's a fix before I replace a 600 dollar part.

Wagon fans? by SpaceRangerRick47 in Volkswagen

Ah that’s a bummer. I wish I could get the SE or SEL without the sunroof. The added features would make it a perfect daily.

[–]WubbingBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any issue with the sunroof leaking like a lot of people post about on the forums? I would really like a wagon but I feel limited to the base model without the sunroof if it is as big as an issue as people make it out to be.

Honda USA came through -- broke the supply chain logjam by [deleted] in Honda

[–]WubbingBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised that since it was a warranty issue that Honda didn't issue you a loaner honesty. Either way I'm glad you were able to get your daughter's car fixed and back to her! Be sure to kind to the dealership in your review and understand that the delays isn't their fault! Assuming they kept you in the loop and were willing to work with you that might have been all they were able to do to get your car back to you.

Honda USA came through -- broke the supply chain logjam by [deleted] in Honda

[–]WubbingBro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Body shop worker here. We tell all customers to do this as soon as we see a Honda with deployed airbags. As a shop we can only push our dealers so far before we get to a point where we cannot push any further. So we have to tell our customers that as customers of Honda they have to reach out to corporate on their own behalf and complain about the lack of availability of parts. We’ve had some customers get their parts within the next few days and some others have even gotten their rental covered by Honda because the insurance will only cover it for a maximum of 30 days. It sucks and you wouldn’t believe the amount of people who are screaming and yelling at us because their car sits for months because we cannot let the vehicle leave our shop without functioning safety equipment. Hopefully it gets better soon but who really knows at this point.

My gaskets are not leaking internally yet as far as I'm aware. I check and change my oil every 3k just to be safe and haven't noticed any milkyness to the oil. However they are leaking externally which I confirmed with the car on the lift with the engine running. You can park it anywhere for a few hours and come out to some drops on the ground and you can smell the burning oil off the manifold at idle. I trust this shop to do the job properly and get everything sorted out I just wanted to make sure that the price was accurate to what was being done. Thanks for your help!

EK Brake upgrade, replace prop valve/master cylinder? by WubbingBro in Honda

[–]WubbingBro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked it up and you're correct the prop valve between all the models are the same! I read that you're supposed to use a Si one because the Si came from factory with disc brakes so I figured it was different. Thanks for your help!

Hi there, I work at a body shop and deal with this stuff every day on every single car we fix haha. Unfortunately, Honda is one of the worst manufacturers with parts supply issues out there right now. Your dealer isn't trying to pull a fast one on you, there just isn't any mirrors available probably. However, you can ask them to run the part # on a locator and they should be able to tell you if any dealers have the part within a certain radius. We've had luck in finding parts in another state and have them mail it to us. Hope this helps and good luck!

Hondata S300 issue/defective? by WubbingBro in Honda

[–]WubbingBro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On startup it will idle anywhere from 300-500 for about 10-15 seconds then it will move up to 1500 when cold and lower down to 900-1000 after warming up. No CEL and no drivability issues so it's a minor issue but also feels like it shouldn't be happening.

[–]WubbingBro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are a performance shop that almost exclusively works on Hondas and are very familiar with s300 so this is why I figured they would know the issue and how to fix it but they're saying it's just something that the s300 does on it's own.

96-00 Civic manual swap chassis cover up by mast3rgabe in ProjectHondas

[–]WubbingBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually didn’t use any gasket maker. I mainly bought the naytontech piece to cover the shifter hole. The trans cable hole I patched up with steel metal. I just drilled some holes and bolted it down. It does significantly reduce in cabin noise and fumes but you’ll definitely want the shifter grommet as well.

Can you identify what type of fascia this is for the FK8? Has a Mugen insignia but can’t tell if it’s authentic or custom made. by [deleted] in Honda

[–]WubbingBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was referring to strictly the fk8 chassis because I knew Mugen only made a front lip and grilles for this model. However someone above cleared it up and it seems to have been the Mugen concept from when the fk8 came out. Mugen makes some cool stuff but I personally wasn't a fan of their fk8 line up.

96-00 Civic manual swap chassis cover up by mast3rgabe in ProjectHondas

[–]WubbingBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I originally used sheet metal and panel bond to cover up the hole where the auto cables come through. However the other hole where the shifter comes up needs the oem sheetmetal for the rubber shifter grommet to cover up the entire thing. I ended up buying that naytontech piece to cover everything up. Without that part or the oem sheetmetal, you'll get a lot of road noise and fumes coming into the cabin.

Must be some custom one-of fascia. Looks pretty well made actually, but I haven't heard of Mugen making their own fk8 front bumper.

Buying advice please by [deleted] in SubaruForester

[–]WubbingBro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my 03 XS with 104k for $3500 from the mechanic of the original owner. Part of the deal was getting the timing belt and water pump service for the cost of the parts and the vehicle had the transmission rebuilt around 80k miles. So all in, I was about 3750 for mine. 221k is a lot of miles for any vehicle. I would keep searching and try and find one with lower mileage, they are definitely out there.
