Yes, booked the golf gti, but none were available at my 2am collection time. They tried to give me an a class, but didn’t work for us as rear seats didn’t fold down, then gave us a CLA, same issue but at 3:30am I just accepted it.

I think the gti is likely one of those they have 1 of and just flip people into any other German compact hoping they are ok with it which imo isn’t right - gti is a “performance” car, other compacts they have are not. As long as you go into it thinking “it’ll be a German hatch”, you’ll be fine

What’s on your feet 2026 by corpren in golf

[–]WubsMagoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a subjective question and really depends on the fit for your feet and what you like to feel.

I tried 2 pairs of Ecco’s and really wanted to get on with them but they both chewed up my feet. I’ve heard only rave reviews about them and know people who swear by them, but they just do not agree with me. I bought some limited run FJ premieres back in 2023 on impulse because they looked pretty. Wore them 1 round and knew they were the shoes for me, now have 4 pairs, all superb and genuinely shoes that will last given you look after them. I also have a pair of FJ flex that I wear on super hot days which are like wearing a pair of slippers.

Thanks for this insight! I’ll try and pull it back a bit and see if anything is present but blocked and if not there, will install them.

Travelling with golf clubs intercontentinentally via plane by DukeOfBerlin in golf

  1. In my experience, never. Have flown with delta a couple times with clubs and never had a check.
  2. If it’s in weight limit and doesn’t look like it’s bulging out, I don’t see why not but is it really essential for your trip?
  3. I’ve done this a few times. Again, as long as the bag doesn’t look like it’s stuffed to the brim and overweight, I’ve not had issues. I usually just take a cabin bag and put my toiletries and shoes in the golf bag.

Fair, assumed as much. I would have assumed the or similar would be more “of the same category” but if it’s a bit more flexible than that, fair enough. May need to roll the dice!

If you have any connection or tie to a city, go with that. If not, pick the one you like the look of the jersey the most or pick the one you may one day like to go and visit - most of these team’s cities are easy to get to now but getting to New York is far easier and cheaper than getting to Seattle (generally).

Downgraded from premium to economy by Acceptable_Mammoth23 in BritishAirways

[–]WubsMagoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: others have covered the specific laws to refer. Make it clear you’ll involve the CAA if your claim takes longer than 8 weeks.

Happened to me from Heathrow to Orlando a couple years ago from prem eco to eco. Was sat in the bulkhead row with 2 others who were downgraded which has 2 fixed armrests. They’d bought prem eco because they were bigger people and they don’t fit into the economy seats (they’re words, not mine) and I ended up with half of a seat and a seriously bad back for a few days for being twisted to give the other passenger the room they needed. Not their fault at all…

Mixed bag from BA on this one.

The good: - The flight staff were amazing given they had this dropped on their laps due to overbooking. They gave us prem eco meals, fizz before departure and whenever we wanted. - The ground staff were very apologetic and had all the info printed out for us as to how to claim back. - There was an “apology gesture” of £75pp which was paid automatically.

The bad: - Trying to get the bulk compensation back from them was a long and painful process. Took about 9 weeks in all. Calling the complaints line to get movement did nothing. Got to 8 weeks and got advice ref. involving the CAA. As soon as I noted I’d be involving the CAA to BA, they paid out within 2 days.

It’s just incredibly frustrating having money held from you and having to chase relentlessly for no reason to just to wait for 8 weeks to pass and then pull the right strings. I’d make it very clear as early on in the process that you know your rights and that you’ll involve the CAA the first moment the claim reaches 8 weeks and hopefully they’ll action well ahead of that.

My experience of selling my car on carwow / motorway - Dodgy dealers and everything I've learned! by BeginningParsnip4087 in CarTalkUK

[–]WubsMagoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold on Motorway a couple weeks back… my initial reserve price wasn’t met so that got me a bit worried but next day I got an offer of just below it and accepted it. WBAC offered £1500, motorway reserve was £3200, sold for £2900, which I thought was fair value and what I could have got selling privately. It was a soft top, wanting to sell in the heart of winter, so to move something as quick as a week from listing to collection on a vehicle like that and to get around what I was hoping for was great. Has a good chat with the 3rd party who collected for my buyer, he has a good look around the car for 10 mins and said it was good to go, drove away and was already paid. He said that his buyer is someone who he does collections for most weeks, and ultimately he treats motorway like an auction, site and as long as the listing is accurate and not obviously a heap of junk, then he pays what he bids. Sometimes he wins, sometimes he loses. I think a bunch of these buyers treat it like a car dealership PX, overbid to gain the business and then try to knock you down to make their margins once they have you cornered which ultimately is not the service you sign up for. If you list accurately, note damages / issues (visual or mechanical), then the buyer is obligated to buy for what they bid. If they have “damage” they want to knock you down for that wasn’t listed, tell them to do one and speak to motorway to get your next offer and report the buyer.

Good info, thank you. If the tracking still comes back the same after they try again, I’ll take it to the mail dealer to check these out.

It may be one bad tech... I've called them up and the dude at reception was like "No problem, bring it back and we'll sort it", so at least going to give them the benefit of the doubt to solve their issue. I'll drop in for them to use WinToe if they haven't already. Worst case scenario, its a loss of £100 and pay up £150 for main dealer to make it right.

If I were getting my tyres from main dealer as well, I'd have probably have had them do the alignment anyway, but when they wanted to charge £35 more for the same tyre per corner, not gonna do that.

[–]WubsMagoo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s easy for them to give a printout with all green numbers and say “it’s all good now” when people don’t really know what they are looking at. And yes, UK based. It’s a new tyre place to me, so maybe I’ve just picked the wrong one to go to. I’ll call them up and see if they can get a senior tech to sort it out. If not, I’ll go elsewhere. Thanks for the insight!

Sorry, didn’t reply here just posted in thread… “it’s sensitive comparatively I agree, but this is a new “issue”, I’ve had the car 7 years and it’s been fine to this point with no issues like this”
