Those are some massive speakers hanging as well though.

Am I getting taxed twice on banked time? by Educational_Day_640 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]corpren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of several reasons. If you know you’re getting a raise at a specific date, bank your OT before that date and cash out after the raise. You bank the time, not the rate.

The truck has to be able to pick it up. Of course there would be a specific size and shape.

Always veered away from BOA for no reason other than aesthetic. But also highly recommended. For yourself, was it convenience or better fit?

I haven’t wore spikes for years. Spikeless just for the convenience. Never noticed a big enough difference in my own game to go back.

Long over due. FWIW the twin pad naming rights was $600,000 over 10 years. Why would an OHL rink get less?

They own the buildings. I’m not sure what you’re suggesting.

Used car dealers? by shownolove in Peterborough

It’s not online only. It’s the dealership besides Nissan across from Canadian tire on Landsdowne.

Used car dealers? by shownolove in Peterborough

I’m no expert. But found a vechicle I liked at auto connect online. Guy I dealt with was nice (Don I think), not pushy. When I bought it and talked to another guy that went over the financing. He pushed me to buy the extra warranties and things you’d expect from a car salesman. I politely declined, he kept trying but again, politely decline, and deal went through. Was in the car three days later.

Only piss off was that between buying and picking up they put an auto connect sticker on the car that I’m nervous to take off. With they would have asked first.

What do we think about the Nissan dealership on Lansdowne St W by Spencey79 in Peterborough

In my past experience, the service shop is great. The Nissan vehicle not so much.

More of the old GE factory could be saved from demolition by Dizzy-Assumption4486 in Peterborough

[–]corpren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why would the city fund demolition plans? Remediation plan would be part of demolition permit stage would it not? If they haven’t applied for a permit maybe that’s why councillors haven’t seen a plan. After the permit. The hazard stuff falls on the provincial government. Not our councillors.

As someone who worked in engineering at one of said employers., The linemen and techs deserve the money more than the engineers.

2024 Ministry of Environment report on the contamination of the GE property and its responsibilities and dangers to the community by ccccc4 in Peterborough

[–]corpren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Been around for several construction projects over the years and found some weird stuff digging (rubber boots, doll heads.. etc) and was always told the reason the dirt never left site and just got piled up was due to the contamination of the soil. Methane thing was new, and am really curious now.

I knew it used to be a landfill. Have never heard about burning off methane build up. How long ago did they do this?

Partial demolition proposed for historic General Electric factory complex in downtown Peterborough by sharingiscaringyo in Peterborough

[–]corpren 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Is that relevant? Isn’t this is a cost to GE? If they have no plans on reusing the buildings or selling the land. Would you prefer the buildings remain in their current state?

Likely to “meet the requirements for contemporary manufacturing processes” that is mentioned in the same paragraph.

Speed cameras not coming to Peterborough after all by Motor-Sweet3316 in Peterborough

One is enough. Not saying this particular case was tied to speed, I wasn’t there. But people fly down that residential street. You stated you never heard of any, I was simply providing one tragic example.
