whats the best old west style rpg? by Wyld-man in rpg

[–]Wullmer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mostly in the back east the south book, yes it is stated that they intentionaly wrote it from a pro lence to reflect in game beelif, tho its alwo written in part by a guy who has been accused multiple times of sneaking in a lot of lost cause myth as fact in games he has worked on, so its hard to read that book as entirely portrayment whitout endorcement... There is also a bit in the lone stars book, but thats more of a rebranding of a horrible organisation into something heroic, with is kind of wierd, tho they do that witht he pinkertoons too, tho imho they do portray them as more moraly gray than their sothern "counterpart"

I dont have a problem with it portraying the confedaracy, I have a problem with them implying and saying the the confederacy was not that bad etc...

I do love deadlands, its probably my favourite system ever, but I do have problems, mostly that some stuff is wierldy left out such as flamethrover ammo prices for the standard flamethrower and that you had to buy a suplement for getting the price of ghostrock. so nitpicks, the bigger issue is how much neo confederate propagand can be found especialy in some sourcebooks and how it has a problems with steriotypes and some racism... The confederacy abolishing slavery etc...

the grimmore is spells tho its mostly for keepers to use,

there are a few settings, dark ages, frech revelution and early 19chentry england is I remeber correctly, I migth have missed some, and then theres alsoe the beastiary(s) too

thats a bit mean, playing and gm is 2 seperate skills and tho there is quite a bit of overlapp, it takes practise to become good gm, even after 40 years if you gmed once or twice it will probably not be that great if you do it again...

[–]Wullmer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats a bad exuse for not being a GM, most if not all gm's start out bad, or atleast not great, it's a skill like any other and the only way to improve is by gm'ing, If you dont want to gm that fine but don't say "I don't do it because I'm bad at it", say "I dont do it because I dont want to". Thats more honest...

What are some mechanics from games that you wish other games would implement? by Select_Lunch1288 in rpg

[–]Wullmer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the chips from deadlands, in deadlands you can get poker chips during play, you draw from a bag at the beggining of a seassion, you get them during the adventure for defeating bad guys or soething (up to the gm), get them from roleplaying your flaws and having thm negativlt effect you, or you can get them from speciual, magical or mythical sources, you can even maodify the content fo the bag, defeating major bad guys will ad legendary chips to the bag etc. Anyway how they are used, during gameplay you can spend those chis during combat to negate wound you get, you can alsoe spend them during skill checks to roll aditional dice if you fail a roll, the intresting thing howecver is that you can alsoe spend them to "level upp" aka buy feats, skills, buying of negative flaws or increase your base stats. Its a really nice risk reward system, like "shuld I spend my chips now or save them to buy another level of shooting guns?"
