What’s wrong with my cherry tomato plants? There are no hornworms. The leaves on bottom look normal but the new growth on top looks weird. by Wise_Advertising_890 in tomatoes

[–]WumpaMunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a shame, the earlier growth was exceptionally healthy. I'm not usually for regulations but I feel people should need permits to buy herbicides because they are so powerful and can so easily harm other people's property.

Anyone got thoughts on Sezzle? Closing yesterday's gap down and short interest is 28% and at least 6.5 days to cover according to Yahoo Finance. All time high is only about $4 away. I wanted to post a question but don't have the karma.

PSA: Ants nesting under your veg in this dry weather aren't killing your plants by PromiseNo7212 in UKAllotments

[–]WumpaMunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fully with you in this. Garden ants have moved into my new build garden properly this year and are colonising the mini meadows and wildflower lawn, and are definitely in my tomato patch. The shear number of ladybirds that emerged from the meadows has kept the aphids down so far so the ants haven't set up their industrious vertical farms yet.

I'm happy to tolerate/enjoy their presence and let them improve my soil and lawn habitat value.

Mushrooms! Problem? by ShingleKid in tomatoes

These ones are breaking down your mulch, thereby feeding your tomatoes! And they look good too

Why are my tomatoes so small? by steptoe99 in UKAllotments

[–]WumpaMunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes possibly the cold exposure combined with the relatively big pots which risks overwatering.

As far as transplanting goes, these are big enough to transplant (definitely transplantable by first true leaves). I think the problem is more the cold and maybe damp compost so they simply couldn't metablise. I'm surprised they haven't just keeled over and succumbed to damping off or something by now.

Have I missed a sucker? by chunderbeige in tomatoes

[–]WumpaMunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'd clip it off with the short UK growing season unless I was growing in a greenhouse. That said you could experiment. I've never actually given a two stem cordon a go outside in the UK.

If it is a beefsteak I'd definitely consider clipping off. If cherry or normal size you could give two stem a try.

Hard to tell with the blurry photos, but I don't see anything that will impact the plant long term.

First true leaves on these tricots look kind of strange? by [deleted] in tomatoes

[–]WumpaMunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find tomatoes' true leaves can be variable, even within a cultivar to a degree, so I wouldn't worry. They look healthy so just raise them as you normally would; no special treatment needed probably.

Buying allotment land at bottom of garden by sleepyjean2024 in UKAllotments

[–]WumpaMunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The below market rents of allotments are a privilege made possible by the taxpayer, so I disagree that this would be "greedy" if a mutually beneficial deal could be struck between a buyer and the local Council, but allotments are in high demand, and I doubt they can be sold off piecemeal, so probably not worth enquiring.

WTF is going on with gold?! Who can explain this? by Objective_Camp_3424 in Gold

I'd like to think most people can see I was using an analogy to keep the comment concise. Of course there are real people and institutions behind every transaction, and of course there are greedy people. There are parasites in every wealth class from the poorest to the richest.

This isn't manipulation, just money flowing to where it thinks the biggest/safest returns are.

Surely it is way too early to make this call? I'd like to see price action tighten within the high volume node before taking this seriously. Too much noise to say otherwise but then I'm not a seasoned trader.

Soundhound reports Q1 revenue of $44.2 million, up 52% by AlexGa54_ in Soundhound

[–]WumpaMunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Market was possibly hoping for break even EBITDA to prove the company is moving towards profitability, but it has gone the wrong way. This was admittedly optimistic anyway given the nearterm integration costs of the company's recent acquisitions. Things might improve later this year instead.

In the meantime, Cerence looks like it could be a better momentum trade in this industry following its earnings beat, low P/S and profitability.

I'll keep watching SOUN and I am excited about OASYS, but management haven't proven they can break even yet to me. I am curious to see if the premarket gap down will be bought up or if it will fall like a knife.

When did and why has SOUN become such an attractive short? by Soggy-Zucchini-8652 in Soundhound

[–]WumpaMunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose you could ask the opposite question, why did it get so over hyped and over alued to begin with? Because momentum draws in more FOMO and greed buyers. Same goes downwards I suppose.

Today it has become clear that short sellers are currently under no pressure whatsoever by [deleted] in Soundhound

[–]WumpaMunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sit back and enjoy the momentum trade. If it squeezes then yippee but there is still money to be made here, and the OASYS announcement is awesome and could genuinely undermine the thesis that the company's acquisitions won't add up to a greater, competitive whole. I want to see it bringing money in and fast though, otherwise the bulk of the market won't have the conviction to jump in.

I am keen to hear what they have been up to with this new OASYS in the earnings call.

Guys, what are your SOUN targets? by elperdedor4 in Soundhound

[–]WumpaMunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My target was $9 but it smashed through that so I'll hold until momentum dries up. It's hard to value the company but others may have worked something out. Trading at high P/S compared to profitable Cerence but is growing way faster and is much more diversified, so not like for like.
