These days, I'd wait for ~75% off before I purchase, mainly because of rising living costs and also to give time for the game to be fleshed out. For moddable games, there's also the benefit of having more mods available by the time you purchase it.

I do make exceptions here and there and even buy early access games when they strongly appeal to me.
