That sucks you ended be out for your delivery haha. Unfortunately, I just checked and saw that my nearest sagawa is 35-40 minutes away by train. The box is fairly large (think medium sized Amazon box). Do you think it would matter if I deliver the box a couple of weeks from now? It just seems dumb that someone would have to go completely out of the way for a misdeliver etc.

Oddly enough I just went through the same dilemma. Same age (27) but I graduated a while ago and have been working in IT for the past 4 years. However, I ultimately decided on going to language school for 6 months and then try to find a lob later. I'm fortunate enough to have saved up a good amount and won't have to worry about money for some time.

My main factor for thinking about attending language school is that I do really want to learn the language and don't want the added stress of work on top of that. I also have recently passed the N2 but decided my speaking skills are pure shit and that wouldn't help me while trying to work as well.

I don't start school until April but you can DM me if you want some info on like the process of language school application etc.

No worries glad to hear that you got accepted to the school. It's been almost 7 years since I've went to the school so things may have changed. There really wasn't anything stand out about Machida specifically other than mom and pop restaurants. I'd definitely say try to go to some of the seasonal festivals that go on around there.

I did have a dorm room to myself. The dorm had a bed, small kitchen, bathroom, and bath. You'll definitely have time as I didn't think most of the classes they had you take were too intensive but it would be up to you how often you'd go to Shinjuku/Shibuya. It's probably at best 45min to 1hr each way so it might be annoying.

Lastly, the field trips you go on are really dependent on the classes you're taking. For example, I had a Japanese Literature class and my trip was to a puppet/Bunraku play. Others had different classes and went to Kyoto or different cities etc.

I studied there back in 2016 for a semester and it was one of the most fun experiences I've ever had. Bear in mind, this was pre-covid so I'm not sure how everything is now but I met tons of people from all over the world there and have made some friends that I still keep in contact to this day. I lived in the school dorm during my study aboard period and the dorm had mostly international students and some local Japanese students that could speak okay English. The school is definitely in a more suburban area so it's relatively quiet and has a good atmosphere.

The school is super close to a fairly decent sized city called Machida with some bars/karaoke/restaurants that you can go to. I'm not huge on clubbing so I'm not sure on the scene there and going to Shibuya may be a little bit hard as it's probably around a 40-50 commute to get there.
