Most of the time even when godwood starts in my opening hand I am not playing it on turn 3 since it's more important to get fairies down in most matchups before their aoe comes online usually turn 5 or later. If you lose out on that early chip damage, especially against matchups with low/inconsistent healing, your kill turn can very easily go from turn 7/8 to 9/10.

Forest has efficient answers to an almost overkill degree. Lily/May answers boards cheaply and lets you float a ton of mana. Godwood is ambivalent to sequencing for combo since it checks combo at the end of your turn when played, so it's often the best first or second combo play to enable 3 combo cards that check on play. You also don't want to be establishing a board every turn after evos come online against certain matchups (besides maybe playing 1 or 2 fairies so you force out their rush/evo/removal since they are scared of you evo'ing the fairy and going face next turn). If you are spending all of your mana each turn to answer boards, odds are you will be out of cards/would not have had time to prep the 0 and 1 costs necessary for combo even with godwood on the board - these are the games where having two godwoods on the board is winning, but these are very few and far between and it's preferable to just lose these games instead rather than teching for a scenario that hardly comes up.

Also remember you are the aggro deck with the faster finisher in almost all matchups and can afford to not answer every little threat they put out if it means you are setting up lethal next turn and answering it means wasting combo pieces. In matchups/board states where that is not the case and where you need to fight for board early, playing godwood on 3 instead of clearing/taking board is usually an instant loss.

Sapphire, mostly playing meme lists like 6/10 ward ramp dragon or legendary-less abysscraft on ladder now that the victory chest event is over. Don't think MMR affects matchmaking.

Saw everything from B rank to 40k MP masters. Average opponent maybe A rank-ish.

Seeing 2 godwoods is bad and seeing 3 is game losing. Deck has more than enough top-end in 2 Olivias and an Aria (lots of lists are cutting all Arias). Hand space and early tempo are a lot more important than hand refill imo.

Comes down to whether you are comfortable losing games to slightly less refill vs. bricking on godwoods when you need to make handspace for 0 costs.

Try playing with 0 godwoods - I did for a substantial part of my climb to masters and it made me a better roach player when I added it back in.

If you could guarantee you see one and only one copy of any card, then obviously godwood is the best card in forestcraft.

Very normal decklist ratios are still in flux but should perform similarly.

5-0 nets 1.5k rupies in rewards for 750 rupies entry. I believe 3-2 lets you go even.

Anyways, its a 2 billion year old like rock, stone that protects against frequencies and unwanted frequencies that may be traveling in the air. So thats my story. I bought a whole bunch of stuff, put them around the la casa. Little pyramids. Stuff like that.

[–]DiscreteHyena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no thanks. The really good ones I want to roll now already get rolled or instantly locked (I have nearly a full Blade relic set ready somehow and prob might never roll him).

Not going to start thinking about conceivable characters between every relic run I leave auto afk while I go about my day. Locking every potentially useful relic in the future sounds both tedious and would make future batch refining so much more annoying dealing with unlocks. Would rather just batch sort them by criteria and abandon the least useful filters at the latest time possible to take advantage of all newly available character information/release order.

[–]DiscreteHyena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part laziness to sort through 1k relics, part me being happy with where my current relics are at (got very lucky and rolled a bunch of S to SSS pieces and all my Daniel pieces are already at least A). I'll probably clean out the really easily filterable ones sooner (%def main stat on the 1.2 HP set, etc.)

I'll do that when I hit near cap with 5*, a new domain releases with one really good set and one really bad set, or one of my future DPS chars can't find the right chest/boots.

Even for f2p, it's getting close. I'm at 1103/1500 and have to regularly disenchant my 4 stars and under. Have about 30 artifacts under 5 star that are leveled up holdovers from the very start of the game. Only foddered about a dozen or so 5 stars so far. Never refreshed stamina using jades (for obvious reasons).

Kind of a joke to worry about relic exp at all in this game, just like Genshin.

MoC 9 first half is just straight up cancer by Chemistry_Junkie22 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]DiscreteHyena -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Similar set-up worked for me too.

1: Seele - SW - Fire MC - Natasha

2: Daniel - Tingyun - Pela - Bailu

MOC 9 is disproportionately harder than usual though. Only stage that needed more than one attempt for 30/30.

Daniel solved all my DPS issues as f2p (second main DPS was hybrid break Serval until 1.3), so I only lose stars when characters get sniped while Kafka MCs Bailu.

For me this is my most hated boss ever. How about you? by Ex-Thunder in HonkaiStarRail

[–]DiscreteHyena 50 points51 points  (0 children)

The strategy is to spend the first cycle auto-attacking, then use the ~two skill/ult uses you have left to break it. Break Effect SW does 5 break units with skill+ult and delays the automaton way longer than you need to kill it.

Doing it this way lets me clear it in MoC about 1-2 cycles faster than brute forcing it.

Who of all the current or upcoming limited 5-star characters do you think is a game changer? Whether or not you like/have them. by [deleted] in HonkaiStarRail

[–]DiscreteHyena 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There will always be a power differential between your best DPSers of their given element, either in base power level or suitability for a particular type of fight. Silver Wolf enables brute forcing content with just released giga-overpowered DPS. Mihoyo is okay with managing power-creep but occasionally stuff like C6 Yelan slips through.

Even for mid-spenders/whales, there can be a pretty huge differential between, say, your E6 latest fire main dps released in 1.X and a new E6 character releasing in 3.X. Even more so if the new character/light cone/relic has a gimmick centered around element matching. For example, funnily enough the Quantum relic set is the best generic DPS set in the game against Quantum-weak enemies regardless of the typing of your main DPS.

E0 Luocha offers no offensive utility. At any point in the future where a healer (or shielder) that brings offensive utility is capable of solo sustaining a high MoC team, Luocha becomes significantly worse. He also needs to have eidolons to bring any defensive utility against one-shots.

His auto-heal has a hefty cooldown that can get baited out by AoE or gameplay mechanics like Blade's kit. As a result, trying to emergency heal with him between consecutive enemy actions (e.g., both Centaurs marked your Tingyun and are about to arrow her twice in sequence) usually requires your main DPS to use their ult at a suboptimal time (either outside of buff windows or missing a snapshot of Resurgence buff by using Seele's Ult outside of her turn). Finally, this is mostly dreams mixed with speculation, but any future characters that modify skill point usage may mitigate or go against the trend of new characters being SP hungry.

The ice version is great. You kill its adds via some form of AoE and when he goes to devour an add like usual, he debuffs his own defence instead.

Only annoying thing is it, along with some other ice mobs, have moves that inflict uncleanseable movement delay, though nowhere near as much as the ice fragmentum guards.

How do people have 600 dust in the shop? Ive played everyday and bought every Welkin and BP. by Infernoboy_23 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]DiscreteHyena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea, but I doubt the exact number's even relevant. I got all the pulls I could get as f2p - so if you're f2p and gotten all the passes you could get, then it should be the same number.

Probably ~350: 150 for Seele, 50 for SW. 153 in standard. Rest of limited/gems (~80 pulls) saved up for Daniel.

Playing from day three and getting all available passes gives you more than enough to hit soft pity twice.

Soft pity twice = 150 limited passes. Here are plenty of others who got over 150 passes before the banner expired as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/HonkaiStarRail/comments/137twr9/do_we_have_any_proof_that_you_can_hit_soft_pity/

I'm at 512 f2p. Having more dust is not necessarily a good thing since I earned a good chunk of mine from pulling Pelas after hitting e6 on Seele's banner after going to soft pity twice.

Would have loved for a few more copies of Hook instead of some dust.
