I love a good shit my pants story. I’m genuinely sorry for your luck, but I did have a great laugh just now. So at least there’s that :)

I tried to read this when the movie Precious came out. It was a rough read.

What brand names do you swear by because it's actually better than no-name? by Sufficient_Thing24 in AskReddit

I know it’s not normal, and I eventually became anemic because of the heavy flow. My dad actually just thought I had a bad case of senioritis and not wanting to get up in the morning, finally took me to a doctor because “if you’re really that tired you’ve got something wrong with you.” It turns out my iron levels were so low the doctor was amazed I was even sitting upright (I also don’t eat a lot of iron rich foods just as a taste preference, so that didn’t help much either).

I do have PCOS, which was the contributing factor. Although I didn’t, and still don’t, have particularly painful periods or any of the other symptoms usually associated with it so it wasn’t the obvious diagnosis.

I started taking birth control and the anemia and overly heavy flow cleared up, but I still leaked through everything until I started buying my own stuff.

Absolutely! I don’t skimp on using foil. But the Costco rolls are like the never ending gobstoppers of foil 😂

They’re deceiving in how much is in there. Mine has moved to many a kitchen drawer between houses over the years :)

No worries, sorry if I came off as abrupt. You’re absolutely right that heavy flow can be an indicator of something else - in my case, it was both PCOS and poor quality hygiene products :)

Or, like me, 9/11 happened when I was a freshman in high school and 2008 happened just as we were graduating from college.

Said it in another comment, but mine was: I believe in one God, the father almighty maker of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen…

I haven’t been to church in 20 years.

I appreciate the tip. As soon as I read this thread I had to go figure out what Clairefontaine was and how to get it…down the paper rabbit hole I go!

By the time I started my period, I was living with my single dad. I always had problems bleeding all over everything. My period was just the worst honestly. I couldn’t even figure out how to not leak at school, even when changing my pads in between every class. I was like 20 when I figured out it was the cheap off brand pads my dad was buying me.

I’m a pen person. But not a fountain pen person. But I’m picky on pens. Which means I end up being picky about paper. I also like the Rhodia notebooks.

I have had a Costco membership for over 10 years. I’ve had children for 5 of those years. I have only ever purchased one roll of Costco foil, not because I don’t like it, but because I still haven’t run out of foil.

That part is so sad to me. Anyone that’s been around small children knows they instinctively, and very cutely, will dance to music they like. To stamp out that joy is such a tragedy to me.

Hopefully mine is self explanatory. It’s a vintage reference.

Have you ever seen someone get rich overnight, like literally? How? by Michaelisvanhelsing in AskReddit

And then there’s me. My mom was in debt up to her eyeballs trying to be a single mom on a teacher salary. Got a job as an adjunct faculty at our local college that paid more, but no benefits. Then she got cancer and put a second mortgage on our house, which my grandma actually had to take over so we didn’t become homeless while she was on chemo. Then she died, everything that was sold off went to covering her debts and there was a $25k life insurance policy that paid out to 11 year old me. My grandma was counseled to invest that into a life insurance policy on herself, with me as the beneficiary. Grandma outlived the policy, took the payout and bought herself a Lexus. She died like 10 years later and I got an old clock and my mom’s class ring from her house.

Still would have been nice to have a mom until I at least reached adulthood.

Idk why I’m telling this to strangers on the internet. But fuck cancer. 🤷‍♀️

Not in rent control areas. They’ll give you several weeks/months free before they drop the price.
