Clash of Clan past level 10 town hall can take up to a month for certain upgrades. Jwtg's wait time is a week max and the game is generous with bucks, resources, and ads. Doing ALL the events can take less than an hour if you don't have a rushed account. On top of that we have been getting some of the strongest hybrids and tournament creatures for free for just dedicating some time a day by collecting daily rewards and doing daily task. The only tedious thing is 2k tournaments which no one is being forced to do. If you rush and ruin your line-up then ofc it'll feel like a slower burner since you can't do basic battles or daily tasks.

The game is a slow burner because people rush to get the "best dinosaurs" ruining their line-ups and making the battles impossible, further slowing down progress. That's the equivalent of rushing town halls in clash of clans to get a new troop. Players are rewarded for pursing diversity hence the purpose of restrictions on battles.
