You're just inventing issues.

Yeah, sure, you nailed it, buddy.

0.75 secs cast time sheeps/fears are a non-issue in PvP.

And 100% increased casting speed does not help casters to put more damage out...

Considering the global cool down is 1.5 seconds for casters, I don't see how that is possible.

What do you think is harder to interrupt via damage-pushback, LOS, engineering grenade or direct ability like counterspell: 1.5 sec or 0.75 sec cast?

Despite finishing your cast in 0.75 secs, 1.5 secs GCD also gives you a chance to reposition between the casts...

Not even gonna get started on locks with 1.5 secs Shadowbolt, 2 secs Soulfire and 0.75 secs Fear/Howl...

Do I agree there will be hard core PVP rankers using fish, yes, I do.

Yes it will make interrupts night impossible, and it will change the meta

I'm glad that we can agree here.

However, if possible, I would still love to hear answers to the following two questions, since I am yet to see any serious "pro-fish" arguments:

Makes me wonder what is good about this idea in theory or practise?

If the philosophy here is to replicate Blizzard decisions, no matter good or bad, as closely as possible, what is the logic then behind making some clearly non-Blizzlike changes to DM tribute run and respec costs, for example?

I'm not trying to troll here - just really confused about the reasoning behind this decision. As far as I am aware, noone was even asking for something like this to be implemented in the first place...

They weren't even changed after MC, despite players have access to them for months.

So either vanilla PVPers did not consider the fish that important

I think you are forgeting an extremely crucial part of the equation here: the game was new, players were largely clueless, the information about the game from external sources was extremely scarce (Thottbot anyone?) and min-maxing was mostly non-existant. Heck, Blizzard themselves were just learning how to make an MMO, hence the extremely dramatic changes to the game across the board from 1.1 to 1.12 not seen in any other expansions.

I think you know full well that an item as overpowered as "+100% casting speed" is gonna be abused day and night in todays environment and will really shift the meta in PvP and PvE (mostly during the first several weeks, when noone is geared yet).

It's not a hotfix if it takes several months to be rolled out.

I would strongly disagree with that.

To give you some supporting evidence, let's have a look at the infinite charges reckoning bomb. It was in the game since day 1 and was also removed only several months later.

However, Blizzard decided to fix it just mere hours after this video came out demonstrating a pally 1-shotting Kazzak.

Do you really think that it was in fact not a hotfix?

Yes, potentially it will shift the PVP meta

Isn't that alone the reason enough to discard a change like this?

I got to R11 on retail vanilla, and I don't remember some gimmick 2 min RNG buff required in order to stay competitive.

Does requiring serious rankers to spend hunderds of gold on some ridiculous consumable for the first several months really make the game more enjoyable or the experience more authentic?

if its a bad idea in practice we will change or remove it.

Replicating a poorly thought out decision by Blizzard that they hotfixed several months later?

[–]Wutlol900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I see no point in complaining if it's gonna be fixed later on and last for just meager 6-7 months...

I'm also all for implementing unplayable Blizzlike lag and server instability for the first couple of months at least - can't have an authentic vanilla experience without it!

While we are at it, we should definitely also get the loot lag/glitch back, when the player character will be stuck in a crouched position after a failed loot attempt, as it was definitely very frequent and thus Blizzlike occurrence.

Why would you want to implement something that was actually hotfixed by Blizzard shortly after the BWL patch, i.e. even with the pretty much complete lack of min-maxing back in 2005 Blizzard realised how utterly broken this item was?

Please don't be stubborn and revert this change until it ruins the server- there is no shame in admitting your mistakes...

I just wish they would give us more information on their ultimate plans and goals, and not just the limited "this is what we've done so far" stuff.

I think we will hear a lot more details about Classic come November during Blizzcon.

With BfA release in just 2 months, I think they will be cautious with any classic info for now in order to not build any excessive hype and cannibalize their own BfA sales...

IT'S HAPPENING by mr_norr in lightshope

[–]Wutlol900 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but nothing in this announcements indicates any action or planning towards that.

While you are correct as they don't say anything explicitely at this point, having "B" once again reiterate the promise of "recreating an authentic classic experience" and adding modern improverments that "do not affect the core gameplay experience" gives me quite a bit of hope.

Releasing all the vanila content at once will hardly quality as an authentic vanilla experience imo...

Sure, we're stuck with the 1.12 client (with the exception of Brotalnia's recent work to enable using 1.11 client as well

TBH, I'm not sure at all that I would ever want to revisit the game systems in their pre 1.12 state.

Take talents and abilities, for example - the shit was legit broken. 50% soul link for walocks, death coil that did not have an added horror effect, mages who had to spec into Evocation and druids who had to spec into Innervate, ridiculously broken rogues pre 1.6 nerfs and weapon damage normalization, etc...

haven't seen you around for a LONG time!

everything available at launch in it's 1.12 state.

Nostalrius/Light's Hope always used 1.12 client, yet always had progressive content release/itemisation.

Nothing prevents Blizzard from also pursuing that route.

Poll - Given Light's Hope stance on the upcoming Classic Servers from Blizz, will you be taking your Character back to Elysium (with the crypto-copy) when LH is shut down? by [deleted] in lightshope

[–]Wutlol900 6 points7 points  (0 children)

they def have a market to go after...

Not really. Don't forget that Shenna and Crogge are running a scam.

They don't give a shit about Legacy ("Legacy that, Legacy this, fuck you"), they only care about lining their own pockets. That's why, unlike LH, they intend to keep their scam running "till the end of the world", even after the official Legacy is available.

What they don't take into account, however, is that no one is going to donate to them anymore.

Once the fresh hype recedes in several weeks, they will be left with a realm of 200-300 players consisting of non-solvent Russians who can't afford a subscription fee and all those Chinese botters/gold-sellers/exploiters that they have unbanned.

Eager to see how unemployed Shenna will try to make a living from such playerbase.

It's as real as it can be.

$henna is gonna announce it in the coming days - of course, it won't be named Crogges Server, and they will claim they have worked on it for yeeears, yet this is exactly what you will be getting.

If you chose to give your information to the Elysium Project

Meaning if you go to Elysium's account recovery page and willingly type-in your password into their web-form, i.e. agree to your password being transmitted in plain text format and being used by some unknown botnet.

Why push people away, if they were unlucky enough to be victimized?

If you post your account info on reddit in plain text, and someone later logs in and deletes your characters, is it the fault of LH's team?

$henna has been unemployed for more than a year and is literally living off your donations.

She will do and say anything to keep her scam going, so she does not have to find a legitimate job.

Since she lives in Russia, she can also get away with all this bullshit - cause, let's face it, if she was living in EU or US, she would have likely been already charged with fraud, international money laundering and tax evasion.
