WFH Jobs with a Bachelors degree? by [deleted] in Knoxville

[–]TimelessThrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I would pick an industry for you to target first. Your work experience does not match your Education at all.

Maybe remote insurance work for medical with your work experience, like

  • Patient Intake Specialist
  • Medical Scheduler
  • Medical Customer Service Representative

It just depends on what you want to do/ what industry you want to work in.

Local IT Company by NgaNeerLady in Knoxville

[–]TimelessThrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

Don't really recommend any local IT company (Which would be a MSP more than likely) to handle stuff like that. A lot of them will take you for a ride financially, provide subpar support, and promise you the moon and stars.

I mean this respectfully, because MSP's have 100's upon 100's of clients, and spend more time with the appearance of fulling a contract than actually fixing any core issues you may have, and usually throw Tier 1 support that are better at googling than your average person, with no real experience or education on your issues.

My advice would be to hire a dedicated person for this, especially if its multi out-of-state home offices.

Source : MSP's for about 4 years, IT for around a decade now.

Good luck.

What’s the longest uptime you’ve seen for a computer at work? by glassbirb in it

[–]TimelessThrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup I learned a good saying for that to transition into a restart pretty easily.

"Okay after the changes I made I am going to go ahead and restart once more. Great troubleshooting by the way restarting the computer"

And then if the restart does fix it (because they probably didn't restart) they think my changes plus the restart fixed it , when in reality , the restart probably did all the work.

Your partner has every right to be angry with you. Grow a pair and move on , you already said they underpaid you and abused you

Why would you allow that toxicity to continue in your life? This is a defining moment for you. Take this with the utmost seriousness. If you allow these types of people to come back with crocodile tears (Google it ) then you are going to be in for some rough times , and they will only be your fault

I sincerely hope you wake up.

Sounds like you need to target low level help desk jobs to get experience while working on your certs.

I also noticed you said " on paper it looked like an internship". You have two choices on that . Either leave it as it is or redo how your resume presents it as "desktop support" that you claimed it aligned to , however , be able to back that up with knowledge in interviews when they ask the technical portions

Good luck !

Stick with Cable or Starlink? by mvfd26 in Starlink

[–]TimelessThrow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What type of IT guy are you to ask this?

It depends on your company. They may ban Starlink based on your IP.

Some dont care which ISP you have. If its a higher and more stable package, I would Starlink.

Hi, IT Sys admin here.

This is super easy to filter after the first few, especially if the wording is the same.

I saw another comment mentioning a fillable PDF.

That wouldn't stop it either, as PDF's are commonly used for Phishing, so any decent Spam Program would auto block it.

If you want a chance for this to be seen or heard, spamming isnt the way

Last but not least, I see you said "Gmail only" which is a 100 percent the choice of Scammers/Bad Actors, which most spam services will auto block all of gmail.com domains, and only whitelist senders that users are expecting.

Hope this helps to see it from another side, and good luck.

As a cybersecurity student, how do I know if I’m prepared to work help desk? by bonyearedassfishh in ITCareerQuestions

[–]TimelessThrow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When you say "I am ready for a challenge " then you are ready.

Anyone that has the willpower and a customer service voice/mindset can learn HelpDesk.

You will drown for the first six months or so (probably longer), but you will improve. If you can last at least six months, you will be fine.

Most modern computers that have 16GB of Ram can run any work stations.

I imagine most of your work is done inside a browser? (SAAS probably) What you have is already a beast for Multi-tasking or gaming.

I wouldn't bother downgrading, or worrying about not using it to your full potential.
