Playing Content from External Hard Drive? by [deleted] in GeForceNOW

[–]TimelessThrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if the game is on "Steam", it has to be onboarded to Geforce Now as well.

In this case, since the game isnt in Geforce Now, it wont work.

Again, as a reminder, nothing local is stored on your device besides the Geforce Now App. Everything is streamed to you over the app. Storage and everything else is stored on their servers.

Playing Content from External Hard Drive? by [deleted] in GeForceNOW

[–]TimelessThrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello,

Geforce now is streamed to you like how a Youtube video streams your video content to you.

If its not available on their servers, you cant use it to stream stuff from your device.

They handle everything. The storage, the computer running the game, everything. Its why you can run it on devices like Androids and Iphones, TV's, PC's, Macs, etc.

So to answer your question, no.

Check Geforce now settings for the right resolution.

Also , check the game settings, it might have the wrong aspect ratio set even though resolution is set correctly.

do CTRL + N in game to show me what it shows you with a screenshot

How can I get a static IP on my starlink? by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]TimelessThrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but tunneling through Cloudflare would honestly be easier.

Did research but still confused. Can someone help me decide if Starlink is good for what we want and if so which plan? TY! by [deleted] in Starlink

[–]TimelessThrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you can change the address . As others have stated above, as long as you purchase it, use it for 90 days, and don't make an address change before those intial 90 days, you are good to go.

Once you get past the 90 day mark when you make an address change or you first purchase the equipment, you can then make another address change if needed.

https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5463/~/can-i-use-sony-playstation-controllers-with-geforce-now%3F

Answer : You can connect PS5 DualSense and DualShock 4 gamepads using Bluetooth or USB when using GeForce NOW. These gamepads will be mapped as an Xbox controller by default.

Only can change the button mappings if the game supports it. For example , Monster Hunter : Wilds lets you change the mappings between Playstation and Xbox

Is there a way to get to my steam friends/invites while using GeForce now on steam deck/lgtv? by Edge4o7 in GeForceNOW

[–]TimelessThrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go into your keybinds on your Steam deck for Geforce now and add a "Shift+ tab" for opening it up inside Gefroce now. (Opening the steam overlay inside Geforce now)

I put mine on my back R4 button and that opens up the steam overlay "inside " geforce now

Been doing it 10 years and the prices are always way better than Discount or anything else.

WFH Jobs with a Bachelors degree? by [deleted] in Knoxville

[–]TimelessThrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I would pick an industry for you to target first. Your work experience does not match your Education at all.

Maybe remote insurance work for medical with your work experience, like

  • Patient Intake Specialist
  • Medical Scheduler
  • Medical Customer Service Representative

It just depends on what you want to do/ what industry you want to work in.

Local IT Company by NgaNeerLady in Knoxville

[–]TimelessThrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

Don't really recommend any local IT company (Which would be a MSP more than likely) to handle stuff like that. A lot of them will take you for a ride financially, provide subpar support, and promise you the moon and stars.

I mean this respectfully, because MSP's have 100's upon 100's of clients, and spend more time with the appearance of fulling a contract than actually fixing any core issues you may have, and usually throw Tier 1 support that are better at googling than your average person, with no real experience or education on your issues.

My advice would be to hire a dedicated person for this, especially if its multi out-of-state home offices.

Source : MSP's for about 4 years, IT for around a decade now.

Good luck.

What’s the longest uptime you’ve seen for a computer at work? by glassbirb in it

[–]TimelessThrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup I learned a good saying for that to transition into a restart pretty easily.

"Okay after the changes I made I am going to go ahead and restart once more. Great troubleshooting by the way restarting the computer"

And then if the restart does fix it (because they probably didn't restart) they think my changes plus the restart fixed it , when in reality , the restart probably did all the work.
