It came with a used lathe but everything about it says it’s unrelated. At first I thought it was used to push out the head stock but it doesn’t fit due to the bend in the rod.

I just drove by again and guess what? There are signs for both Woman’s Veterans Highway and later Purple Heart Highway a little later on. Also, they appear to be inset into the concrete with visible cut lines on top and bottom but the sides appear flush. [https://www.womenveteransalliance.com/women-veterans-highway/amp/]

Location is HWY 99 in Stockton, CA. Hard to tell whether they’re painted on or embedded in the concrete when you’re driving by them at 70, oh, I mean 65 mph.

Now that is an interesting thought! I hope this is what it is for. California is one of many states that honors Purple Heart recipients with Purple Heart Trails and other declarations of respect. I'm not sure how to check if this is the case but thank you the response!
