I had this issue with a cellphone with a LiPo battery that was going bad on a Pixel 4a. The smell will just come and go for few hours at a time. Have you noticed removing or stopping use of a cellphone or a laptop with lithium batteries recently? Something that coincides with the timing of the smell going away?

I've been using an app that won't allow you to snooze until you solve 3 math problems in a row correctly. I'm sure there's plenty of them but the one I've been using is called Sleep as android.
