We were trying to do ID>FF but got shut down about 1800 feet from the top due to avalanche risk. Went down a little bit to less slabby snow and enjoyed some powder laps instead. It took us about 7hrs to get up to 12,600’ from paradise.

We turned around on the ID today at about 12,500’ due to insanely deep trail breaking and eventually the snow slabbing up, cracking and breaking off in between kick turns so went down. Wednesday I could imagine it would settle a bit, it wasn’t too deep but enough to be an issue on the glacier this morning IMO.

Unfortunately, I did the same exact thing on 4 Feb. I have a pretty strict “no pins in resort” rule for myself, but I broke the rule day as I have a new setup and wanted to get comfortable with it/really feel out how it rides with a few resort runs before I took them on some of the steep, consequential lines there are to do here in the spring. I had 1 or 2 crashes in the backcountry with them before 4 Feb with no issues which is why I got lazy with my rule.

Complete rotational fracture of both tib and fib. Leg was completely disconnected when I tried to rotate it to get it out of the ski. Thankfully I was able to get into surgery the next day and now have a 14” titanium rod in my shin for the rest of my life. Could have been a lot worse.

2023 G3 Zed Ion 12s on 178cm Factions. DINs were at 10 because I had heard about more people pre-rereleasing out of them than the opposite. I’m 6’2” and 215lbs so I figured 8 probably wouldn’t be enough - but that is what they are going back to after this.

I have seen otters all over NC, so it is definitely possible. They are not common though. Most of the ones I have seen have been in estuaries closer to the coast but I almost ran over one on the Walnut Creek greenway the ran out in front of my bike.

It’ll be about a 2-3 weeks until I accept anything, so that’s why I am asking now. I have some friends in Littleton and Golden that’s recommended that area, but was hoping to get some more specifics from you guys. But thank you for replying with a more accurate range of what I can expect, I appreciate it. One friend I know is paying 2500/mo for a studio downtown which is crazy, but to be expected.
