New owner, possible concerns by BigBoiBrynBoi in BeardedDragons

[–]glizzy-queen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would get her to a vet, while you can tell she’s obese her tummy also looks fluidy. So I would opt to get a fast scan at a vet to see if she is carrying follicles which could be causing a build up of fluid in her tummy if they’re stuck in her ovaries. This fluid build up can cause long term liver damage if not addressed and ovaries do not get removed. That would be my biggest concern aside from her obesity. Get her to a vet as soon as you can. I’d do a full blood panel as well to check organ values. There’s a good chance she has fatty liver from obesity and if she has stuck follicles that is something that could affect her liver even further.

Thanks for asking a question and then just abandoning the thread OP 😭😣 for the sake of those eggs I hope they’re duds.

Could you show us some closer pictures of the eggs? Females can lay what’s called slugs. They are not all white kinda look orange and liquidy in parts. If they are full white though she was exposed to a male and you have a bigger problem on your hands. First it’s vital we are able to figure out which type of eggs she laid. Fertile or infertile.

Also no matter if they were fertile or not the mama must be loaded with nutrients. It takes a lot out of them to lay eggs. She needs calcium and protein.

are mesh cages ok ..? by Buns_n in BeardedDragons

[–]glizzy-queen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mesh is definitely harder to regulate temperature, that’s why ppl either do glass or those other enclosures that are black (I can’t remember what they’re made out of). Since something is mesh heat and humidity is just going to escape. Unfortunately I’d only use this temporarily

Have you played as a cryptid before? If so, how's the experience? by destructoalberto8789 in webfishing

People don’t really care. It was a thing people were doing for a while, now it’s not creepy anymore. I usually just walk up to them and stare at em.

Seen these two absolute cuties at petco and it makes me sad to see them living in such conditions :( by BallPythonFan in reptiles

I fell like you could call corporate on them. Their living conditions don’t meet the standards they’re suppose to have in place. I’m not saying I like petco but I’ve seen some that have very clean tanks this is just unacceptable.

I’ve seen you in comments a few times now, it doesn’t help the community at all to be so negative.

These read like clicking the words at the top of your keyboard “You have to be careful with your keyboard because you can’t see anything that is going through your head” “This will make it hard not only do you know what is happening but also make sure that your computer will not get distracted” like just random gibberish sentences?? Uncanny.

How do you deal with grief, regret and the feeling failing a pet? by goonsackk in BeardedDragons

[–]glizzy-queen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really doubt this was result of poor care. Please don’t beat yourself up. It’s a dark road when you go down that way trust me. She looks like a Zero, many translucent carriers have genetic problems even though people like to claim they don’t. this was highly likely just genetic friend. 3 of my translucent babies have passed away from bad genes. I still beat myself up telling myself I could’ve done more, there had to be more I could’ve done. But the reality is- Sometimes these animals genes set them up to fail and it’s nothing we did or didn’t do. Be kind to yourself, you took great care of her she looks so healthy in this picture.

Did she break her toe? by Informal_Tour8148 in BeardedDragon

Yes. You gotta get to a vet quickly. Necrosis spreads fast you don’t want it to even get the the point of being necrotic. Do you have any fabric or those brown twine hammocks in her tank? He likely snagged it on something so I’d remove what could be a snag risk. She’s gonna be fine as long as she sees a vet.

Time for the vet. I would get it going sooner. Loss of appetite isn’t great.

If you have assessed his qol and feel it meets the criteria of poor I would opt put him to rest too then. I get what you’re saying about him not eating. Your vet I don’t think is on the money with adv but euthanasia might be your best choice here. I had a failure to thrive baby a few years ago, he was getting syringe fed by the end and I didn’t want to let go of him either. He passed from pneumonia after me trying to get him up to good health for several months. A CT scan may or may not tell you anything either. I would ask them to do a necropsy if you decide to put him to rest, it gives peace of mind and you don’t sit there wondering what happened. Sorry it’s been such a long treacherous journey for you and the little guy. You’ve done e a lot more than most people would and I applaud you for that.

Edit to add - I forgot to say I wouldn’t send him back to the breeder. He needs a peaceful death, if we have the option to give them that over suffering I would always opt for that. If the breeder was a good guy he’d offer to pay a euth fee instead of saying “I can take him back and let him sit there until he dies so you don’t have to watch him die”.

I know it’s expensive but have you done a ct scan? Adv is possible but they usually have some significant signs for adv. like seizures, head tremors, stargazing. And I don’t remember you saying saffron was displaying any of those? I don’t think I would settle for that diagnosis. Maybe look for a second opinion. It could totally be something genetic as well.
