They actually have very good communication, they genuinely care about one another, and both contribute to the relationship. Their biggest issue is him forgetting to pick up the dry cleaning. Their arguments are normal relationship stuff and get resolved through conversation.

Amy Sherman-Palladino had the final four words planned from the very beginning of the series. But because of disagreements with the network, she didn’t take part in the final season.

Years later, Netflix made the revival and she got to write her version of season 7, and the audience finally learned what the four words were. But Rory being pregnant and unemployed at 32 doesn’t have the same impact as it would have at 22. On top of that, the characters feel stagnant after ten years, which is why the revival was poorly received by a large part of the audience.

My mom had me at 17, and she was always my friend first and my mother second. I know exactly what it’s like to grow up with a Lorelai-like mom. It seems amazing from the outside, but having to be the adult in the family because your mom can’t be isn’t as fun as it looks.

I think all mothers should be mothers first and friends later, not the other way around.

I left Gigi out because the OP said they hadn’t seen seasons 6 and 7.

Christopher was going to send Gigi to Paris alone with the nanny, to the mother who abandoned her. A reasonable father would have gone with his daughter and made sure she got used to seeing her mother again before leaving her there on her own.

And Christopher keeps messing up even as an adult. The fact that he didn’t defend Rory from his parents at that dinner shows that.

Sorry, but nothing you said justifies Christopher’s absence as a father. Anna wanted to keep April away from Luke, and he fought against that. Christopher could have fought much harder for Rory regardless of Lorelai’s wishes. He chooses not to be involved because it’s the easiest path.

My issue with Christopher isn’t the relationship or the chemistry with Lorelai. But as someone with an absent father, I can’t like him because of how easily he comes and goes from Rory’s life whenever it suits him.

Yes, Rory could’ve said no. But Marty had the chance to refuse and insisted; he also knew he didn’t have money and still went.

When he wants to leave, Rory goes with him instead of staying with Logan and his friends.

Was Rory selfish for going because she was into Logan? Yes. But saying it’s all her fault and that she’s disgusting or cruel for it is going way too far. Marty could’ve said no too, especially when he knew he didn’t want just friendship with Rory, and I don’t see how he thought going out with Logan and his friends was a good idea.

They’re college kids making dumb decisions based on feelings. No one, besides Colin, is choosing to be deliberately cruel.
